What are Weapon Abilities in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
Unique character skills that require ATB to perform.
Weapon abilities are combat skills that characters can perform in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth at the cost of ATB. Each character has their own set of unique moves that have a range of effects such as dealing damage to enemies, applying buffs or debuffs, or even defending allies from incoming damage.
How to Unlock Weapon Abilities
Increase weapon proficiency.
You can unlock weapon abilities by raising your weapon proficiency using different armaments through battles. Once you have maxed out this parameter with a weapon, you will even be able to transfer an armament’s unique ability to other weapons you wield throughout the game.
Unlock abilities via folios (skill cores).
Some weapon abilities can also be learned by unlocking and upgrading the necessary skill cores via folios which can be accessed from various Maghnata Book shops situated in towns and cities.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth How to Unlock Skill Cores
Unlocking skill cores from folios not only allow you to acquire new moves but also gain useful passive effects and stat boosts. New Synergy Abilities and Synergy Skills can also be learned through folios.
How to Set Weapon Ability Shortcuts
Can be done in Combat Settings from the main menu.
You can set command shortcuts for weapon abilities by going into Combat Settings under main menu. This allows you to perform a character’s weapon abilities without having to cycle through the command menu. Note that it is also possible to set magic spells and abilities gained from equipped materia this way.
