Code Vein Behind-the-Scenes Video Part 1
After a long delay, Code Vein resurfaced for eager fans of the upcoming action role-playing game with an announcement of a Network Test from May 31 to June 3. Players will be able to experience a playable demo version of the game, despite word of an official release date yet to be confirmed. Perhaps to make the wait less agonizing, Bandai Namco released a behind-the-scenes video talking about the development team’s experiences shaping and polishing the game before it comes out this year.
Code Vein’s main premise was also touched on during the video. The game follows the tale of a group of vampires, referred to as Revenants, as they explore vast dungeons inhabited by a variety of horrific creatures and abominations. To fight off enemies they encounter, Revenants have access to different types of weapons and blood-based abilities.
One of the gameplay mechanics explained in the video is the Blood Veil, a piece of equipment that allows the player to drain blood from enemies. The Blood Veil takes on four forms: Ogre, Stinger, Hound, and Ivy. Each form has unique characteristics and mechanics when drawing blood from foes.
Another feature mentioned in the video is the Blood Code, likely a specific spread of stats that determine the character’s job or class. Altering the player’s Blood Code modifies the character’s attack power, defense, and abilities in battle.
To use abilities, players depend on the game’s version of MP called Gifts. These are obtained by draining blood from enemies using the Blood Veil.
Numerous enemies can also be seen in the video, which are collectively called The Lost.
