The previously teased Project Z by Bandai Namco is given the official title “Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot” during Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference.

This single-player game lets players control Kakarot, otherwise known as Goku, and experience the classic story arcs written and drawn by Akira Toriyama from his perspective.

The recent trailer shows Goku battle enemies from the Saiyan Saga, such as Nappa and Vegeta, up to the Frieza Saga where he faces against his most dangerous foe.

The design looks similar to the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series where characters and areas are in 3D and have cell-shading. Despite being 3D, the game remains faithful to its roots by perfectly recreating iconic scenes from the manga and anime.

However, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot adds more to these scenes by having destructible landscapes and multiple beam struggles not seen in the source material.

It is currently unknown if the game covers only the Saiyan and Frieza Sagas, but Bandai Namco promises to reveal more before its release.
