News SG - Introducing Hallohallo Inc. and Hallohallo Gaming

Hallohallo Inc. ventures into the competitive gaming industry by launching an esports team in the Philippines for the mobile MOBA game Arena of Valor (AoV).

Hallohallo Inc. and Hallohallo Alliance

Hallohallo Inc. is one of the largest web content providers in the Philippines, first established in August 2010. Engaged in a broad range of businesses under the name Hallohallo Alliance, the company started on its path to success by founding the country’s biggest B to B to C-type online shopping platform called Hallohallo Mall in April 2012. Hallohallo Mall lets users purchase items online across different categories such as Electronics, Food & Drink, and even Baby Products. Soon, various other web-based businesses sprung from Hallohallo Alliance, including Hallohallo Job for indexing companies and job postings, Hallohallo Rental for matching rental properties and Hallohallo Town for indexing restaurants and service providers.

Hallohallo also recently created Hallohallo Entertainment, a management company responsible for bringing the popular AKB48 idol group license to the Philippines. This license allowed Hallohallo, in partnership with ABS-CBN, to launch MNL48, the Manila version of the said group. AKB48 is a Japanese idol girl group that lets fans vote for any of their members during an annual event called the Senbatsu Election (or Senbatsu Sousenkyo). The members are grouped according to the ranking they achieved through voting and release a single with an accompanying music video.

MNL48 garnered more than a million likes on the official MNL48 Facebook page, as well as a viewer rating of 20% on the Philippine noontime show It’s Showtime.

Hallohallo Gaming

Tentatively naming their new venture Hallohallo Gaming, Hallohallo begins its foray into esports through the massively popular mobile MOBA game Arena of Valor. Arena of Valor was developed by Tencent, the company that owns Riot Games which created the popular and highly-competitive MOBA game called League of Legends for the PC. Arena of Valor has an active player base of over 160 million users worldwide and is the highest-grossing free-download game app in the world. In 2016, the game topped the China pan entertainment festival “China IP index value list – game list top 10.”

Hallohallo Gaming will hold a Philippine Arena of Valor tournament in July to determine the most talented teams and players to join Hallohallo Gaming’s Arena of Valor professional esports team. Promising entrants will go through a series of screening procedures to confirm their eligibility to represent Hallohallo in the competitive scene.

Hallohallo and the Video Game Industry

Even before declaring their commitment to esports, Hallohallo already had respectable expertise with the video game industry and today’s gaming culture. Evidence of this can be seen in Hallohallo’s various service websites where users can create their own avatars and play a variety of fun mini-games to earn XP (Experience Points) and HP (Hallohallo Points). The former is used to level up and allow the user to customize their avatars, while the latter can be used to shop for items or purchase coupons on the Hallohallo website.

Mini-games on the Hallohallo websites will often appear while browsing content. They can also be found in the website’s dedicated Games Corner.
