Berries
Berries are held items introduced in Generation II. Since specific berries have specific functions and also conditions that trigger it, choose your berries wisely. Some can heal HP. Others can heal status conditions and some can also boost stats in the middle of battle. While commonly known as a Held Item or a Battle Item, some can be used on the field.
Berries and their Conditions
Because of their different effects, each of them have a certain set of conditions. The berries are triggered when those set conditions are met. Some of the effects such as healing HP trigger only when the Pokémon’s HP is at a certain level. Berries based on Status Conditions are activate when the Pokémon is hit with the same condition it cures.
- Affected by HP –> triggered only when Pokémon’s HP is at 1/2.
- Affecting PP –> activated only when the PP of a Pokémon’s move drops to 0.
- Induced when in a pinch –> triggered when HP is red
- Based on Status Conditions –> activates only when the Pokémon’s status condition matches that of the berry.

Triggered in a Pinch

| Wiki Berry | If held by a Pokémon, it restores the user’s HP in a pinch. Causes confusion if the user hates the taste. (Dry flavor) |
| Mago Berry | If held by a Pokémon, it restores the user’s HP in a pinch Causes Confusion if it doesn’t like the taste. (Sweet flavour) |
| Figy Berry | If held by a Pokémon, it restores the user’s HP in a pinch. Causes Confusion if it doesn’t like the taste. (Spicy flavour) |
Condition-based
For these to work, Pokémon needs to hold it before battle.
