Types of Shields

Here is a breakdown of the differences between Shield types:

Shield Type Shield Type Description
Light Shields For parrying attacks with less protection.
Medium Shields For blocking attacks with stability.
Large Shield (Greatshields) For blocking attacks with less stability.
Thrusting Shields For attacking and blocking attacks at the same time.

Factors in Choosing Shields

Here are factors to consider when picking up your shield equipment:

Factor Factor Description
Stat Requirement Consider character stats since it scales with a shield’s Guard stats. This will influence how your character will effectively use a shield.
Shield Weight Consider the weight of the shield since it will affect the Equip Burden.
Playstyle Consider the playstyle since it influences which type of shield to use. Small shields are for parrying while Medium and Large shields are for blocking.
Guard Boost Consider the amount of Stamina used for blocking attacks. The higher the Stamina, the more incoming attacks can be blocked.
Damage Reduction Consider the damage reduction for each damage type. For example, you can block all Physical attacks with a 100% Physical Damage Reduction. Anything less than 100% will be inflicted on your character as chip damage while blocking attacks.
