What is Lies of P?

Lies of P - Game Overview 1

Lies of P is a soulslike action role-playing game from Neowiz Games loosely based on Carlo Collodi’s 1883 Italian Novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. The game follows the story of the humanoid puppet Pinocchio as he journeys through the dark city of Krat to find his creator Geppetto.

Krat is inhabited by hordes of violent biomechanical creations. Pinocchio must fight through the city’s various locations using an arsenal of weapons and tools that obtained throughout the game.

Lies of P Story

Below is a summary of Lies of P’s story taken from the game’s official website.

“You are a puppet created by Geppetto who’s caught in a web of lies with unimaginable monsters and untrustworthy figures standing between you and the events that have befallen the world of Lies of P.

You are awakened by a mysterious voice that guides you through the plagued city of Krat – a once lively place that has been poisoned by madness and bloodlust.”

Gameplay

Lies of P is heavily inspired by games from developer FromSoftware which are often cited as having created the soulslike genre of challenging action RPGs. Among the titles that Lies of P has drawn comparisons to are the Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Lies of P boasts up to 30 unique weapon types with 100 different combinations which players can access via the crafting system. The sheer variety of armaments and gadgets available to Pinocchio lets players find their preferred playstyle in combat and the freedom to experiment as well.

As with most soulslike games, Lies of P also features intense boss battles that require players to learn different enemy attack patterns. Getting through these major encounters will also often boil down to trial and error that the genre is known for.

Lying System

Lies of P’s main story is accompanied by the “Lying System” where the player’s choice during key parts of the game will affect the ending. The story route that each player decides to take allows them to view one of three possible endings. This means that a minimum of three playthroughs is required to unlock all climax scenes in Lies of P.
