Motivity Build Overview
The Motivity build in Lies of P is geared towards using heavy two-handed weapons to deal massive damage per hit. Performing regular guards using heavy two-handed weapons also has better damage reduction compared to other armament classes, giving you improved survivability throughout the game.
The most obvious drawback of strength-focused builds, meanwhile, is their slow attack speed. This can be mitigated by learning enemy attack patterns and being familiar with the windup and recovery times of your own weapon. Because of this, the Motivity build may be difficult to use for beginners or new players with no prior experience in Soulslike games.

Stat Progression
Level 10 (Initial Stats)
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Vitality | 11 |
Vigor | 5 |
Capacity | 11 |
Motivity | 11 |
Technique | 5 |
Advance | 6 |
Going for the Path of the Sweeper: Strength Combat Style is the best choice for a Motivity build, granting you the highest starting Vitality, Capacity, and Motivity stats values out of all three initial Combat Memories.
Level 30
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Vitality | 17 (+6) |
Vigor | 10 (+5) |
Capacity | 11 |
Motivity | 20 (+9) |
Technique | 5 |
Advance | 6 |
At around level 30, try to have at least 10 points invested in Vigor to be able to swing your weapon more frequently without needing to recover. You should also focus on raising your Vitality (max HP) during the game’s early stages alongside your Motivity (damage-scaling stat) similar to the progression shown above.
Level 50
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Vitality | 20 (+3) |
Vigor | 15 (+5) |
Capacity | 11 |
Motivity | 32 (+12) |
Technique | 5 |
Advance | 6 |
As you approach level 50, try to get Vitality and Vigor to at least 20 and 15 respectively. Then, dump all points into Motivity to further improve weapon damage. if you do not intend to use the Carrier’s Amulet (available in Chapter 4), you could try putting some points into Capacity if your current load is beyond the normal range.

Greatsword of Fate Blade + Krat Police Baton Handle | Greatsword of Fate Blade | Default weapon (Path of the Sweeper: Strength Combat Memory), can also be purchased from Wandering Merchant for 300 Ergo. |

Holy Sword of the Ark | – | Exchange the King’s Flame Ergo (dropped by King’s Flame, Fuoco boss) with Alidoro or Explorer Hugo at Hotel Krat. |
Noblesse Oblige | – | Exchange the Fallen One’s (dropped by Simon Manus, Awakened God final boss) with Explorer Hugo at Hotel Krat. |
Greatsword of Fate Blade + Krat Police Baton Handle
The best greatsword weapon combo for Motivity builds (strength) is the Greatsword of Fate Blade + Krat Police Baton Handle which has a Motivity scaling of B. The blade grants this setup high attack power while the handle gives you access to a moveset consisting of vertical swings. This results in an armament that can dish out massive damage while generally being reliable to land hits on enemies.
This combo can also be assembled very early in the game and is highly recommended for beginners and new players going through the main story for the first time.
Despite being a greatsword combo, the vertical flash attacks you can throw out with the weapon are reasonably fast, making it a good weapon even against bosses. While it will struggle against fighting multiple enemies due to the absence of any horizontal (sweeping) attacks, you should be fighting most regular foes one-on-one anyway.

Weapon Description | ||
“A greatsword blade made by refashioning a soldier puppet’s weapon. Even when used as a bayonet, its unique bend keeps it from interfering with firing. Stalkers who have survived life-or-death situations can see the threads of prey. These threads are the sticky spiderwebs of obsession that they say are clearer the stronger the puppet is.” |

“The handle from the self-defense batons used by Krat police. The grooved lines make for a firm grip. It can be assembled with any blade.
“Do not ever rob a police officer’s home. You won’t go to prison. It’s a one-way ticket to the sewers with a head smashed by a police baton.” – The advice of a retired petty thief |
Holy Sword of the Ark
The Holy Sword of the Ark is the best special weapon for Motivity (strength) builds, boasting an incredible moveset, damage output, and set of Fable Arts. Other notable features of this boss weapon is being able to greatly reduce damage taken when performing regular guards. The Holy Sword of the Ark has a B and C scaling for Motivity and Technique which is perfect for both pure Motivity and even quality builds in the game.
The “Quality” build originates from FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls which is used to refer to a character type that focuses on both the strength and dexterity stat to benefit from their preferred weapon’s equal scaling in both attributes. Quality builds often have one of these stats to be higher than the other or be entirely equal (1:1) based on damage scaling soft caps and other factors for build optimization.
The Holy Sword of the Ark’s offensive potential is unlocked by using its Alter and Patient Smash together. Upon activating the former, Patient Smash becomes a 5-hit sword combo with excellent range in addition to lowering your stamina use when attacking.
Holy Sword of the Ark Weapon Stats
Weapon Name | Type | Fable Art |
---|---|---|
Holy Sword of the Ark | Greatsword (Special Weapon) | Patient Smash, Alter |
Physical Atk | Critical Rate | Weight |
140+128 | – | 21.2 |
Motivity | Technique | Advance |
B | C | – |
Weapon Description | ||
“A special greatsword that was lying asleep in the St. Frangelico Cathedral. It can transform between a special greatsword and a glaive. The Ark Saintess’s weapon was reproduced for puppet use and it made a grand appearance at Krat events. However, its legendary holiness could not be reproduced.” |
Noblesse Oblige
Another good choice for Motivity builds is the Noblesse Oblige which is the only special weapon with A scaling in the Motivity stat. The main draw for this weapon is its Ergo Release Fable Art which lets you use up a fixed amount of Ergo to perform a powerful downward smash attack.
Boasting a staggering 153 physical attack, the Noblesse Oblige can easily make short work of most regular enemies and is adept at hitting groups of them thanks to its wide swings. The most obvious drawbacks to using this massive club, however, are its weight and slow attack speed. Be sure to raise your Vigor enough to stay at normal weight load and be able to unleash its full three-hit combo in battle.
Noblesse Oblige Weapon Stats
Weapon Name | Type | Fable Art |
---|---|---|
Noblesse Oblige | Blunt (Special Weapon) | Ergo Release, Endure |
Physical Atk | Critical Rate | Weight |

Motivity | Technique | Advance |

Weapon Description | ||
“A mystical cudgel made from an Ergo crystal tree. While battering enemies, it emits spores, increasing the Ergo acquisition rate. The Stalker who desired wealth made a contract with a devil that liked music to gain a cudgel. Along with this, he was gifted with overflowing Ergo and the Petrification Disease.” |
