Best Combat Style for Beginners and New Players
Path of the Cricket: Balanced (Best Starting Combat Memory)
For beginners and players not familiar with soulslike games, it is highly recommended to start with the Path of the Cricket: Balanced Combat Memory in Lies of P.
The saber starting weapon is generally the easiest to use out of all starting weapons for its simple yet effective moveset. The armament also boasts respectable damage against enemies encountered in the game’s early areas, allowing you to take down most regular enemies in 3 to 4 swings.
In terms of stats, the Path of the Cricket has an overall good even spread, coming in between the Path of the Bastard and Path of the Sweeper for all but one of the game’s attributes. Players who want to make an Advanced-focused build will also like this starting Combat Memory as it has the highest initial Advance stat of them all.
Path of the Bastard: Dexterity (Nerfed)
The Path of the Bastard: Dexterity was previously the best Combat Style to go for in the demo. The full game, however, has seen this starting Combat Memory’s default weapon nerfed. The Rapier weapon you start with now does significantly lower damage than its trial version. As a result, most regular enemies even at the start of the game go down after 5 or more hits.
The Rapier still enjoys the fastest attack speed out of all initial weapons in the game. Players who prefer an agile and evasive fighting style with a moveset consisting of mostly quick thrust attacks can still opt to go for the Path of the Bastard when starting the game.
Overall, choose the Combat Style that you like the most.
Whether you are new to soulslike games or have prior experience with them, the best Combat Style is still the one you have fun with the most. Accumulating Ergo and spending them to increase your stats will let you compensate for certain drawbacks brought about by your chosen starting build so just pick the style that interests you out of all of them.
