Evaluate your Pokemon using the Stats Judge Function [Pokémon Sun and Moon]

Find out the secret potential of your Pokemon by obtaining the Stats Judge function!

This article contains information on the Stats judge who gives detailed information on the individual values (IV) of the Pokemon that you want to have him evaluate for Pokemon Sun and Moon.

What is the Stats Judge Function?

If you want to have your Pokemon evaluated in terms of its individual values (IV) you can show it to the stats judge.
In the previous games, to have your Pokemon evaluated you only have to find the specific NPC and talk to him.
For these versions an added function is that you can have Pokemon from the PC evaluated by the stats judge function. However, you cannot simply check the evaluation immediately as certain conditions need to be fulfilled first.

How to unlock the Stats Judging Function

◆ Prerequisite

To have your Pokemon evaluated by the stats judge you have to fulfill the following:

  • Hatch 20 or more eggs
  • Enter the Hall of Fame

◆ Where to unlock the Stats judging feature

If the (2) conditions have been achieved, head to the Battle Tree at Poni Gauntlet in Poni Island. Talk to the Ace Trainer standing next to the PC to unlock the evaluation feature for your PC Box.

◆ How to Evaluate your Pokemon

A button called Judge will appear in the lower right corner of the box. You can see individual value statements of the Pokemon highlighted in the PC on the outermost layer of a hexagon which displays the 6 stats. The statements are complemented by a blue visual cue which extends from the center. For each stat, the longer it extends from the center, the higher is the IV indicated.

Checking the Individual values (IV)

Each Individual values (IV) are evaluated according to their corresponding number:

  • Best (31 IV)
  • Fantastic (30 IV)
  • Very Good (26-29 IV)
  • Pretty Good (16-25 IV)
  • Decent (1-15 IV)
  • No Good (0 IV)

This means that if the Pokemon’s specific stat evaluated has the statement Best, then it has a 31 IV in that stat; while if it has the statement Fantastic, then it has a 30 IV.
The same applies when there’s a very low IV. If the stat evaluated has the statementNo Good, then it has a 0 IV.
You can find the Individual Values (IV) Total statements at the bottom of the Judge screen.

The table summarizes the different statements based on its corresponding IV Total.

Statement Individual Values (IV) Total
Outstanding potential! 151~186
Relatively superior potential 121~150
Above-average potential 91~120
Decent potential 0~90

  1. when I use the judge function, the IV’s are different than if I look at it’s summary. I have some Pokèmon that have perfect IV’s using the judge function that I recieved over Wondertrade that I’m sure are hacked, but the summary shows different IV’s. I’m confused.

    • Hi Jesse, that sounds bizarre. What do you mean by the IVs are different from the summary? Did they use markings to distinguish which IVs are perfect from ones without? Currently it is not advised to use Pokemon from the Wonder Trade because of the rampant amount of hacks being distributed there. For legal Pokemon, I suggest following a forum or community and trade with members there.

      • The IVs are displayed entirely different between the two. The judge function says they are perfect, but the summary shows very average IV’s. The judge function even displays the little black hexagon that means perfect IV’s, but the summary lacks that.

        • Hi Jesse, I’m not sure how it displays that. In the judge function it says that all IVs are “Best”? Did it say that some of it are “Hyper Trained”? If it is the latter, then maybe it was originally average but were maxed to 31 after Hyper Training.

Do you have a screenshot of the summary?
