Using Krookodile
Krookodile has high base Attack as well as remarkable base Speed. However due to its typing it has several weaknesses while only 2 resistances.
Despite this handicap, it possesses two great abilities: its ability Intimidate allows it to come in on Physical attackers; whereas, its hidden ability Moxie is also beneficial to buff its already high attack stat.
Its unique typing should be used to combat Electric and Psychic-Type Pokemon by launching STAB and coverage moves coming from a Pokemon with a high base Attack stat.

Fitting Krookodile on your team
■ Intimidate set
Ability | Intimidate |
Nature | Adamant/Jolly |
Effort Values | 252 Attack / 252 Speed or 252 HP |
Held Item | Life Orb/Choice Band/Choice Scarf |
Recommended Moves | Earthquake/Crunch or Knock Off |
- The Intimidate set relies on lowering the opponent’s Attack to aid itself and teammates. This is helpful especially against 2 of the types that Krookodile resists.
- One of the recommended moves is Knock Off which nullify the effects of the opponent’s held item.
■ Moxie set
Ability | Moxie |
Nature | Jolly/Adamant |
Effort Values | 252 Attack / 252 Speed |
Held Item | Choice Scarf/Choice Band/Life Orb |
Recommended Moves | Earthquake/Crunch or Knock Off |
- Moxie set capitalizes on netting knock outs using its high base Attack in order to maximize its attack stat for each Pokemon it has defeated.
- An ally should use Tailwind to patch up Krookodile’s above average Speed stat, to allow it increase its chances of outrunning opponents, consequently maximizing Moxie’s capability.
■ Stealth Rock set
Ability | Intimidate |
Nature | Jolly |
Effort Values | 252 Speed / 252 HP or 252 Attack |
Held Item | Focus Sash |
Recommended Move | Stealth Rock/Roar |
- Intimidate complements this set’s main function which allow it to provide a chance to use Stealth Rock.
- If the opponent moves after Krookodile, this set is more effective as it allows it to survive more than 1 turn.
Countering Krookodile
Intimidate allows it to patch up its average Defense, this discourages the use of Physical attackers.
Therefore it is recommended to strike it with Sp. Attacks since this targets one of its several weaknesses.
As a matter of fact, some of the recommended types are durable Water and Fairy-Type Pokemon.
Examples of these include Azumarill and Sylveon, as both resist its Dark-Type attacks. Even though Azumarill’s attack will be lowered by an Intimidate variant Krookodile, its ability Huge Power almost disregards this effect unless the opponent decides to cycle Intimidates. On the other hand, Sylveon can return powerful STAB special attacks which are super effective against Krookodile.
