Super Mario Odyssey - Pre-order Bonuses: News

Here are some of the pre-order bonuses that a few retailers are offering for the release of Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch.

Pre-order Bonuses

Ahead of the release of Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch, many retailers are offering pre-orders for the much-awaited game. Although many shops are only offering a physical copy, a few retailers are giving pre-order bonuses for those who pre-order the game.

Special Gold Coin

Best Buy is offering a special coin to commemorate the release of the game. This double-sided gold coin features Cappy, Mario’s companion in the game. Cappy looks like Mario’s signature hat but with two big eyes at the front instead of the usual “M” logo.

In Odyssey, Mario can use Cappy to “capture” monsters or enemies and take control of them to utilize their abilities. This mechanic is also crucial in some puzzles, as you need a specific enemy skill in order to complete a puzzle. Mario can also use Cappy to act as a platform or to activate switches.

At the other side of the coin is a globe, which represents the main theme of the game which is exploration. There are several worlds that Mario will explore in Super Mario Odyssey, with others still not revealed by Nintendo.

One of the more interesting locations in Super Mario Odyssey, New Donk City, is apparently governed by Pauline, who you might remember is the damsel-in-distress in the old Donkey Kong games.

Also, he needs to travel to different worlds to collect Power Moons. These Power Moons will help Mario gather enough power to defeat Bowser. Mario will also be accompanied by Cappy, a strange creature who looks like Mario’s cap but with eyes.

It is not yet known if the coin will be big or small, but it is still one of the most neat pre-order bonuses regardless of its size. You can pre-order the game at Best Buy here. Look out for more pre-order bonuses as the game is nearing its release.

Super Mario Odyssey releases on October 27, 2017 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
