Below are tips that can be useful on your adventure in the post-pandemic world. Many of the information were based on the first game. We will update this as we go along.

Check for cues

Ellie tends to ramble or react to events when they come. Since the hud doesn’t report the progress of the objective, keep track of Ellie’s reactions to find out the current status. Occasionally, she’ll remind herself of the progress which serves as an indicator that you can move on to the next one. In addition, Ellie can also listen to the progress from an accompanying ally.

Use listen mode

Some difficulties offer listen mode which can help Ellie detect nearby enemies even in pitch black areas. Toggling listen mode allows you to navigate through unfamiliar territory easily.

On top of that, listen mode shows your scent trail which can be picked up by the guard dogs. Always be on the move and use bottles or bricks to interrupt the enemies to buy time for an exit.

Go for stealth takedowns

Achieving stealth takedowns is a vital way to thin out surrounding enemies. The good news about stealth takedowns is that you can opt to use one way or the other to close the distance on an enemy. You can opt to lure an enemy away from his fellows by throwing a brick or two while behind some cover. Another way is to silently approach one from behind and choose to either hold him hostage or finish him off on the spot. If the other enemies don’t see you taking a hostage, you have a brief moment to drag the enemy to a corner and dispose of him without alerting anybody around.

Search the area thoroughly

It pays to be meticulous since resources are scarce. In other words, you’ll have to treat every spot you find like a scavenger hunt. Few examples include breaking glass and squeezing through crawlspaces to reveal new paths that may lead to item spawns.  Unless you’re looking for the shortest route possible, take some time to look around for supplies like crafting materials, ammo, health items, and weapons. You’ll never know when that extra molotov would come in handy.

Free some space

Aside from collecting items, you also need to get familiar with crafting. If you’re looking to grab another item but don’t have enough slots, you can opt to free some space by crafting.

Save the big guns

After finding precious materials, avoid using them on regular encounters unless the site is teeming with infected or other hostile enemies. Make your shots count and use stealth takedowns to avoid wasting precious ammo. On top of that, stay low while crossing high-traffic areas to prevent any unwanted attention. When the boss finally emerges, you can finally bring out the powerful weapon you’ve been saving and go to town.

Allocate skill points wisely

Similar to the order of crafting items at a given time, you also need to figure out how to distribute skill points. While you can choose based on preference, some skill upgrades can be useful early on compared to others. Below you can find a list of useful skills to invest on.
