Details on Pokérus [Pokémon Sun and Moon]

The Pokemon Virus is a beneficial special condition that can affect your active pokemon after battling

Detailed Information regarding Pokérus in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Pokérus

It is a special condition that can be contracted by Pokémon.

It allows the affected Pokémon to gain double Effort Values (EV) after battling.

Any wild Pokemon you capture or a Pokemon in your party after a battle might be infected with Pokerus. When a Pokémon is affected by an active Pokérus, it will have POKERUS displayed on its status screen.

If you place the affected Pokémon in your party with an active Pokérus, it is possible to spread the special condition across the other adjacent members.

However it is not permanent, by the time the In-Game Time strikes 12:00 AM, there is a possibility that the Pokémon in the party will be cured.

When the Pokémon is cured, the Pokémon’s status screen will have its POKERUS symbol replaced with the special smiley symbol. Once the Pokémon’s active Pokérus is cured, it cannot contract another active one. A Pokémon with a cured Pokérus cannot spread the special condition across other adjacent members of the party.

If you do not want the infected Pokemon to be cured, you can deposit the infected Pokémon in your PC box, which can prevent the condition from being cured.

This means, you only need at least 1 infected Pokémon that has an active Pokérus placed in the PC to begin spreading the special condition when it is placed in the party again.

Even if the affected Pokemon is cured, it will still earn double EV after battle.

It is difficult to contract Pokérus by yourself. Therefore, it is recommended to obtain it by using some form of communication. You can try trading or using the Global Trade Station (GTS).
