Using Crobat
Crobat highest stat is its Speed. It has 3 (1/4) great resistances which is complemented by its Ground-Type resistance. With the Hidden ability Infiltrator, it can effectively use moves as it bypasses through Reflect and Substitute.
In addition, equipping Safety Goggles makes it effective against Breloom and Vivillon who try to cripple it with sleep.

Fitting Crobat on your team
■ Physical attacker type
Nature | Jolly |
Ability | Infiltrator |
Effort Values | 252 Attack / 252 Speed |
Held Item | Safety Goggles/Life Orb/Sky Plate |
Recommended Move | Brave Bird |
- This set invests heavily on Speed to attack fast.
- Super Fang is also effective against most opponent’s that would resist its attacks.
■ Choice Band set
Nature | Jolly/Adamant |
Ability | Infiltrator |
Effort Values | 252 Attack / 252 Speed |
Held Item | Choice Band |
Recommended Move | Brave Bird |
- The Choice Band set locks it to using one move for each turn it’s sent out but boosts its Attack while investing on Speed to complement it.
- Since moves are scarce, it is recommended to have a Pokemon that cover Crobat’s weaknesses.
■ Supplementary set
Nature | Jolly |
Ability | Infiltrator |
Effort Values | 252 HP / 252 Speed |
Held Item | Berries(Charti/Payapa/Wacan/Yache) /Black Sludge/Damp Rock,etc./Lum Berry/Sitrus Berry/ |
Recommended Move | Brave Bird or Acrobatics |
- Lacking in Attack investment, allows Crobat to fit a more supportive role.
- Since it might be prone to Taunt, having at least 1 Attack Move prevents it from struggling.
- Toxic is effective with Infiltrator to cripple even opponents that have put up a Substitute.
■ Nasty Plot set
Nature | Timid |
Ability | Infiltrator |
Effort Values | 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Speed |
Held Item | Life Orb/Safety Goggles/Expert Belt |
Recommended Move | Nasty Plot |
- If it switches in on a Bug or Grass-Type, it may be able to buff itself with Nasty Plot.
- Heat Wave provides additional coverage to counter any Steel-Type Pokemon that expect to tank its otherwise weak STAB moves.
■ Super Fang set
Nature | Jolly |
Ability | Infiltrator |
Effort Values | 252 Speed / 244 HP and the rest on durability |
Held Item | Red Card |
Recommended Moves | Super Fang/Taunt |
- As a lead, the Super Fang set uses its high Base Speed stat to deal damage with Super Fang to weaken an opponent and switch out on the fly to an anticipating ally with a Red Card.
- Super Fang is not only a means for dealing damage but it can also patch up any problems that the team normally has especially if the team is lacking in offensive pressure to deal damage to certain types. This makes it convenient for less offensive Pokemon to come in on an already weakened opponent.
Countering Crobat
Crobat not only functions as a fast threat but it may also invest in HP as a support-Type that utilizes Non-Damaging Moves. One of its highlights is its Infiltrator ability which grants its Toxic to go through Substitute, thus it is unwise to rely on this move when Crobat is out on the field.
Although it has several potential sets, all of these are lacking in durability which make Crobat prey to common Pokemon that it does not fare well in terms of type matchups.
One recommended held item is Quick Claw which outspeeds Crobat if it activates, allowing even slow Pokemon to outspeed it.
If it has not used Nasty Plot, Steel-Type Pokemon can come in on most of its attacks barring Heat Wave.
Another recommended move is Taunt to shut down its supportive role. Although it also carries Taunt, it won’t be able to use it if it was Taunted first.
