Using Dustox

A new move introduced in the sixth generation was Infestation which allows Dustox to add some residual damage each turn especially if it would be able to land 5 turns worth of damage.

Other notable moves are Quiver Dance which heightens its already high base Sp.Def stat while making Sp.Atk and Speed a bit above average. A turn of Quiver Dance can allow it to maximize the damage output done by Toxic as it can tank more special hits while slowly leaving the foe to worry about the gradually increasing poison damage.

While not an optimal team choice because of its stat distribution and typing, Dustox makes up for it by having many disrupting moves, and additionally Electroweb which can deter opponents who outrun it.

Ability-wise, Shield Dust is the preferred ability as there are only a handful of low Acc moves that it can learn. Furthermore, since it is a Poison type, Toxic is guaranteed to land on the opponent.

Recommended Moves Quiver Dance/Roost

· Dustox has a High base Sp.Def stat for a Bug type.

· Quiver Dance grants better chances of surviving against specially Offensive threats while being able to fire decent damage coupled with better speed.

· If Infestation is used, it prevents the opponent from switching out.

· Since its typing is suitable to take advantage of the availability of same-type moves, we recommend running Toxic and Struggle Bug to provide opportunities for stalling.

· Despite its bulky Sp.Def, Dustox can’t stall Physical threats as they can prey on its weak Defense.

Countering Dustox

In terms of checking opposing Dustox, consider that its base Defense isn’t intimidating, so running Physically oriented Pokémon is advised.

An example of a good counter to Dustox is Talonflame which ignores Dustox’s stat modifiers because of Gale Wings which allow it to outrun even those that have used multiple Quiver Dances. Finally, use of entry hazards especially Stealth Rock is beneficial to weaken opposing Dustox.
