Using Salamence

Salamence has high Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed stats. When it mega-evolves, its Defense drastically increases along with its Attack and Speed stats. The ability that it gains once it mega-evolves is Aerilate.

Both its Intimidate ability and Moxie hidden ability are very useful in battle.

It also has powerful physical moves such as Outrage, Earthquake, and Double-Edge. Its special moves like Draco Meteor, Fire Blast, and Hyper Voice are very powerful as well. Its Dragon Dance and Roost are useful in changing the phase in battles.

However, since it is very weak to Ice-type Pokemon, it can be easily defeated by it. Hidden Power (Ice) is a devastating move that your opponent can use against your Salamence, so watch out for Ice-type Pokemon in your opponent’s party.

Countering Salamence

You can easily defeat Salamence by countering it with an Ice-type Pokemon. Make sure that your Ice-type has high Speed stats so that it could use its moves first before Salamence.

Since it has Intimidate, it’s best to use a Pokemon who has a high Sp. Attack. Your Pokemon should also have Competitive and Defiant to counter Intimidate.

Countering Mega Salamence is also the same as countering its pre-mega evolution form, but make sure that your Pokemon can endure Salamence’s attacks.

Whenever you want to switch out your main Ice-type Pokemon, make sure that you have a Steel-type or an Electric-type Pokemon as a backup in your party.

The Pokemon that you can use to counter it are Zapdos, Azumarill, Thundurus, and Greninja.
