Metro Kingdom Purple Coin
The Metro Kingdom Purple Coin or Local Coin is shaped like a regular coin but with an embossed skyline of the city. These purple coins are scattered around New Donk City.

Purple Coin Locations
It is recommended that you defeat the first boss in the kingdom first before collecting the purple coins.
Set 1 (x3)
Found at the platform to the right of the Spark Pylon near the Odyssey.
Set 2 (x2)
Behind the short fence after riding the Spark Pylon to New Donk City.
Set 3 (x2)
Ride the Spark Pylon located to the north of the park then go beneath the red platform to get two purple coins.
Set 4 (x3)
After defeating the first boss in New Donk City, hop on the parked taxi in the designated area (next to the RC Challenge course) and jump to the fire escape. After jumping, climb up the roof to get the purple coins behind the sign.
Set 5 (x3)
After defeating the first boss, go to the building next to the RC Challenge course (read Set 4 to know how to get on top of the building). Jump down the grating between two buildings and ride the Spark Pylon. You can immediately see the set of purple coins at the end of the ride.
Set 6 (x2)
After defeating the first boss, go to the building at the southwestern corner of the map (this building is next to the construction site). There are two purple coins between the billboards at the top of the building.
Set 7 (x3)
From the building near the RC Challenge course, continue heading west until you find some purple coins at the top of a billboard.
Set 8 (x2)
Go the the building at the southwestern corner of the map and you will find a pole near one of the billboards. Use the pole to fling across the next building, then drop down to the billboard below to get the purple coins.
Set 9 (x3)
Go to the rooftop garden in the building specified in the map, then drop down to the right to get the purple coins.
Set 10 (x3)
Ride the Spark Pylon next to the Crazy Cap store and it will take you to the rooftop where you will find the purple coins.
Set 11 (x4)
Go the the top of the building located east of the Rooftop Garden checkpoint to get the purple coins.
Set 12 (x2)
Jump on the taxi to reach the fire escape in the specified area and climb up the set of stairs to get the coins.
Set 13 (x2)
Go to the building north of the park and climb up the rooftop and look around the area for the coins.
Set 14 (x3)
Enter the glowing door found in one of the buildings to the east (near the park area). Inside the room, there are three purple coins that you can spot immediately.
Set 15 (x3)
Go to the buildings to the east near the park, then head between the two larger buildings in the area and you will find some purple coins on the lower platform.
Set 16 (x3)
Go to the triangle shaped building located in the cluster of buildings to the east. Head to the rooftop and jump down the ledge to the east to get the coins.
Set 17 (x2)
Climb the building at the rightmost corner of the buildings to the east and you will see two purple coins. Throw Cappy at the coins to get them.
Set 18 (x2)
Go to the triangle-shaped building to the west and climb up the rooftop. Go to the south side of the building and drop down the ledge to obtain the Metro Kingdom purple coin set.
Sets 19 & 20 (x6)
At the triangle-shaped building to the west. Enter the glowing door near the question mark sign to enter a course where you have to run away from a T-Rex. There will be purple coins that you can miss while running away, but you can retry the challenge to get them.
Set 21 (x3)
Go to the building at the westernmost corner of the map near the triangle-shaped building. Head to the big Bowser and Peach billboard and head left. Once you’re in front of a green building, get the three coins hidden in an alleyway nearby.
Set 22 (x3)
Near the Set 21 coins, go to the taller building to the north. You can reach the coins by performing a series of wall jumps between the smaller building and the taller building in the alleyway.
Sets 23 & 24 (x7)
Set 23 is found after jumping across the first two green platforms in the area. The purple coins are at the lower platform nearby, look around and turn you camera to find the platform. Set 24 is found at the main Power Plant room. The coins are on the third green platform.
Set 25 (x3)
Go to the building to the northwest and walk into the alley. Take the Spark Pylon that will lead you to the rooftop cafe and find the purple coins on the darker side of the area.
Set 26 (x3)
Head to New Donk City Hall and go to the west side of the balcony.
Set 27 (x3)
At the New Donk City Hall roof, go to the windows above the door and perform a series of wall jumps to get the purple coins.
Set 28 (x3)
Go to the roof of New Donk City Hall and jump down the railings to the east.
Set 29 (x3)
Head to the back of New Donk City Hall and perform a series of wall jumps on the girders close to each other in the area.
Set 30 (x3)
Go to the back of the heliport in the area specified on the map and perform wall jumps on the girder to get the Metro Kingdom purple coin set.
Set 31 (x2)
Found at the top of the tree in the corner of the Mayor Pauline Commemorative Park.
Sets 32 – 35 (x10)
These sets of coins can be found inside New Donk City Hall. The first set can be obtained by jumping on the platform with three Goombas. The second Metro Kingdom purple coin set is found somewhere in the main path of New Donk City Hall (these coins are hard to miss).
The third set is obtained on another moving platform where you have to use Cappy to reach the purple coins. The fourth Metro Kingdom purple coin set can be obtained by sliding down the beam indicated in the screenshot.
Set 36 (x5)
From the park to the east, head to the northwestern most building and enter the glowing door. This door leads to another building to the west of the map. Climb the tree at the starting area to get two coins, then use the rocket nearby to start a challenge. The last three Metro Kingdom purple coin set is found on one of the moving platforms.
