Power Moons
The Super Mario Odyssey Power Moon is a crescent-shaped collectible item similar to Power Stars and Shine Sprites of previous Super Mario games. These items possess 2 end-points, each of which terminates into a disc shape. Each Power Moon will also contain 2 oculars, which may portray them as living beings. Power Moons appear across various Kingdoms. These function as the source of power to operate the Odyssey which allows Mario to travel from one Kingdom to the next.
Apart from Power Moons, Mario can also obtain rare variants called Multi Moons. One Multi Moon is equal to 3 Power Moons. The only way to obtain them is either by defeating Main Story Bosses, or completing each section of the Main Story. The total number of Power Moons found in the entire game is at least 600.
