Ula’ula Island Walkthrough 2: From the trouble in Malie City up to Island Kahuna Nanu [Pokémon Sun and Moon]

This walkthrough covers Ula’ula Island and explains the confrontation between Professor Kukui and Team Skull up to the cruise back to Aether Paradise for Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Malie City

1. Return to the Malie City garden and talk to Professor Kukui. A cutscene will occur and Team Skull Leader Guzma will then challenge you in a Pokemon battle.

1. Receive a Z crystal from Professor Kukui.

2. Go to Route 11 and keep moving forward until you get to Tapu Village.

1. A gate at the end of Route 11
   Once you’ve reached the end of Route 11, a mini-gate blocks your path, present the Z crystal you’ve won from Guzma and the gate will be opened.

1. Reaching the end of Route 12
   Once you’ve reached the end, you will obtain a Poke Ride for Mudsdale. You will now be able to run across rocky terrains.
2. Use the Poke Ride to advance towards Route 13
   Ignore the path to Blush Mountain and proceed to Route 13
3. Meeting Hau and Gladion
   Once you’ve entered Route 13, Hau and Gladion will appear and a cutscene will occur.

1. Head west on Route 13.
   Continue travelling the path and you will eventually arrive at Tapu Village.
2. Enter Tapu Village
3. To the Aether House
   Head west and you will find the Aether House, enter the building. Hau will appear and a cutscene will occur.

1. A Pokemon battle will commence after the cutscene
   Once the Preschooler is defeated, you will meet Acerola, one of the Trial captains. Acerola gives you permission to undergo her trial.

1. Lillie is attacked
   When you go outside, a cutscene involving Lillie and a Team Skull Grunt will occur. Defeat the Grunt and you will receive 5 Luxury Ball.
2. Go back to Tapu Village for the trial
   Meet Acerola in the south of the village near the Pokemon Center.

• Go up the stairs and you will meet Acerola

• The Trial of Acerola will begin.
  You would have to take a picture of a Ghost type Pokemon using your Poke Finder

• Take a picture of Ghost type Pokemon using the Poke Finder
  At the bottom center of the site, take a picture of a Lv.30 Ghastly that will appear in the conveyor belt.
  In the upper left corner of the location, take a picture of a Lv.30 Haunter near the shopping cart.
  At the right side of the market, take a picture of a Lv.30 Gengar near the Pikachu and Marill dolls.

• Is that a Pikachu walking towards the door? Go to where the mystery Pikachu went.
  The Poke Finder starts automatically once you’ve entered through the door. Look behind you and you will see Mimikyu. Once you’ve taken a picture of Mimikyu, it will reveal itself to be a Totem Pokemon and will challenge you to a battle.

Strategy: When Mimikyu uses the “Call for Family” move, a Hau Lv.27 will appear in battle. Mimikyu can also use Disguise, an ability that will nullify any damage taken by an enemy Pokemon’s move. Disguise is a very powerful ability, so you have to be careful on what moves you are going to use each turn. Therefore, if you use a Z-move first, it will be a waste.

• Go to Po Town.
  Go to the Team Skull base in Po Town. You would need to use a Sharpedo Jet in order to surf the sea.
• Approach Hau in front of the Aether House, a cutscene will commence leading to a Pokemon battle against Plumeria.
  After the battle, you will have to head to Po Town to retrieve the stolen Pokemon.

• Head north on Route 15.
  There will be rocks along the way, but Sharpedo can destroy the rocks.

1. Explore Route 17
   Several items can be collected near a sole Team Skull Grunt at the top of a hill
   To the left: TM84
   The center: The Team Skull Grunt, but to his north is a Full Heal

1. Head to Team Skull’s base
   When you’ve reached the entrance, you will be challenge to a double battle. Once you’ve defeated the Team Skull Grunts, you can now enter their base

• There will be a barricade which is guarded by Team Skull members, you would have to find another way to go inside.
  You can go inside by looking for a hole in a wall. The hole is located at the left near the barricade, but all barricades that will come after the first one will have a hole on the left side, and each time you enter through a barricade, you would have to battle the Team Skull guards.
• Enter the mysterious mansion.
  You need to know the password To get inside the leader’s room
  First answer: Beat Up
  Second answer: Golisopod
  Third answer: Tapu Cocoa
  And then finally, answer “NO” for the last question.

• Enter the room of the Team Skull Leader
  Defeat Guzma in another Pokemon battle.

Strategy:
Since Guzma uses Bug type Pokemon, prepare for the battle by adding Flying Type Pokemon in your party.

1. Receive a Z crystal.
   Once you’ve defeated Guzma, approach the treasure chest at the top right corner to obtain Buginium Z.
2. Get out of the mansion.
   A cutscene will occur which involves the old man who was at the entrance of the base.
3. Go to the Aether House in Tapu Village.
   Once you enter the Aether House, a cutscene will commence.
   Gladion comes inside the Aether House, and you will then battle Gladion.

1. After the battle, Gladion will ask you to come with him to the ferry terminal.
   The old man who was in Po Town will appear, he will reveal himself to be a Island Kahuna. Defeat him through Pokemon battle.

Island Kahuna「Nanu」

Strategy:
His Sableye will often use Fake Out, which will always guarantee that it will be the first to move in a turn. It will be wise to waste a turn by consuming items. Bring a Pokemon that can aim for his Pokemon’s weak points. Since Nanu mainly uses Dark type Pokemon, so Fighting/Bug/Fairy type Pokemon will be very effective against this Island Kahuna. Nanu’s Persian has a Z-Move called Black Hole Eclipse, which creates a black hole filled with dark energy that sucks the enemy Pokemon. Persian’s Z-Move is very powerful, so prepare to be dealt with massive amounts of damage once Nanu picks Persian.

   Nanu will give you a Darkinium Z when you defeat him.
2. Head to Aether Paradise
