What is the Best Ending in Persona 3 Reload?

Good Ending (Let Ryoji Live) – True Ending

The best ending in Persona 3 Reload (P3RE) is the Good Ending that occurs if you let Ryoji live when he appears to the party on the evening of 12/31 (New Year’s Eve).

Point-of-No-Return Event (12/31)

Note that the New Year’s Eve story event on 12/31 is a point-of-no-return which means that you cannot undo your choice apart from having a backup save prior to the decision event.

Steps to Get the Best Ending (Good Ending: Let Ryoji Live)

Below are the steps to get the Good Ending. Note that once you lock-in your decision with Ryoji on 12/31 by choosing to let him live, you will be permanently locked out of getting the Bad Ending.

1 Progress through the main story.
2 On the evening of 12/31 (New Year’s Eve), Ryoji will appear at the SEES dormitory and wait in your room.
3 When the message “You must choose wisely” appears, select “Let Ryoji live.”
4 After Ryoji changes into his true form, select “Let Ryoji live” again. Note that the choice you make in your room where Ryoji waits is permanent and will lock you in to the Good Ending for the rest of the playthrough.
5 Progress through the main story through January and defeat the final boss.
6 Watch the Good Ending.

Why is the Good Ending the Best Ending?

Considered the “true” ending.

The Good Ending story route is considered to be Persona 3 Reload’s “true” ending which means that you will be able to experience canon events and the eventual fate of many of the game’s characters.

Unlocks additional features not available in the Bad Ending.

The additional features and content available to you when going for Good Ending also make it the better choice as the amount of story content and obtainable Personas, unique achievement unlocked, and other rewards obtained far surpass any benefit to choosing Bad Ending.

Good Ending Exclusive Features

Below are all features and content that can only be accessed on the Good Ending route and are all missable if you chose to kill Ryoji instead (Bad Ending).

Additional Story Month (January)

Going for the Good Ending essentially continues the main story by giving you access to an additional month (January) to progress through Social Links, raise your level and Social Stats, fuse Personas, and do other activities in the game. Use this extra time to prepare for the upcoming battle against the game’s true final boss.

Judgement Arcana

Choosing the Good Ending route is also the only way to gain access to the Judgement Arcana which unlocks several of the game’s strongest Personas such as Michael, Satan, and Messiah. The Good Ending is also the only way to farm the best armor and accessories in the game by repeatedly leveling Messiah until it yields its Heart Item.

How to Get Both Endings in a Single Playthrough

May be possible through cloud saves (to be confirmed).

It may be possible to get both the  Good and Bad ending in one playthrough of the game via exploiting cloud saves. Otherwise, it is generally better to go for the Good Ending on your first playthrough and the Bad Ending on a New Cycle (NG+) and subsequent playthroughs.
