Is Fatigue in Persona 3 Reload (P3RE)?

Removed in the remake.

The fatigue system which has been a major gameplay mechanic in previous Persona 3 games has been removed in Persona 3 Reload (P3Re). This means that certain characters no longer experience reduced performance in combat and other related negative effects after exploring Tartarus for extended periods.

Associated mechanics such as using bathrooms and other ways to restore a character to normal conditions also no longer apply in the remake.

Conditions in Previous Persona 3 Games

List of Conditions

Condition Effects Causes
Great Increased critical hit rate, increased evasion rate Get enough rest by sleeping in class, sleeping early at night, use the bathroom while in Good condition, draw the 10,000 yen fortune at the shrine.
Good None (default condition)
Tired Decreased attack and defense Exploring Tartarus for prolonged periods, doing too many battles, clearing Full Moon Operations, missing sleep continuously after studying, drawing the “Very Worst Luck” fortune at the shrine.
Sick Greatly reduced accuracy, evasion, and recovery, highly vulnerable to status ailments Explore Tartarus while tired and not using the bathroom, get infected by another sick ally.

Tired Condition

Characters that are tired have reduced attack and defense in battle and may get sick if they still try to explore Tartarus. Below are what causes the tired condition in the game.

Causes of Tiredness (Fatigue)

Exploring Tartarus for Prolonged Periods

Characters can become tired if they spend too long in Tartarus or fight too many battles throughout the dungeon floors. Mitsuru will often suggest withdrawing from Tartarus if you are at risk of becoming tired so heed her advice and leave the dungeon to rest.

Clearing Full Moon Operations

Completing Full Moon Operations by defeating the main boss during a Full Moon also causes the party to tucker themselves out. As taking down Full Moon bosses are part of the main story, you have no choice but to try and recuperate the next day.

Missing Sleep Continuously After Studying

Forgetting to rest several days in a row when studying also causes you to become tired. Because of this, be sure to get some sleep in between study sessions to avoid wearing yourself out.

Drawing the “Very Worst Luck” Fortune at the Shrine

You also automatically forced into the tired state if you draw the “Very Worst Luck” fortune at the shrine which can often mess up the schedule of activities you want to do for the day and the next.

Sick Condition

Characters who are sick have greatly reduced combat performance as they will suffer from significantly lowered accuracy, evasion, recovery, and can easily be inflicted with status ailments. The causes of the sick condition are listed below.

Causes of Sickness (Cold)

Exploring Tartarus while Tired (and not using the Bathroom to Recuperate).

Continuing to explore Tartarus despite being tired, you may get sick. To prevent this and return to normal conditions, use the bathroom as soon as you get tired.

If you still want to go to Tartarus despite being tired, try to save your game first so you can reload if you do get sick.

Get Infected by a Sick Party Member

A sick party member can infect allies if they fight together too often. Be sure to leave Tartarus immediately when a party member becomes sick so that they do not end up infecting the whole team.

How to Recover from Tired and Sick Conditions in Previous Persona 3 Games

Nap in class.

You can choose to nap in class if you are tired. Doing so lets you return to normal conditions at the cost of not gaining increases to Academics. Class schedules are fixed so try to decide the best time to doze off or listen to the lesson throughout the game.

Go to bed early.

Going to sleep early lets you recover quickly from tiredness, though you will be forced to give up your free to time for other activities just to get your energy back.

Use the bathroom.

You can also recover from fatigue by using the bathroom. This is arguably the best way to return to normal condition outside of using Tsukaretoreru (item) in the game.

Persona 3 Reload Bathroom Effects and Locations Guide

Use Tsukaretoreru.

Tsukaretoreru is a consumable item that lets you and your party members instantly recover from the tired condition. It can be obtained via mail order or buying them in school.

Try to purchase Tsukaretoreru in advance if you have the money. Having them on-hand lets you squeeze in more activities and maximize your time where you would normally need to rest.

Pay 3,000 Yen at Be Blue V to instantly be in great condition.

You can go to Pauwlonia Mall’s Be Blue V and pay 3,000 Yen to instantly go from tired to great condition. Avoid using the shop’s services when you are sick as you will only become tired (which will not be worth the money).

Draw a fortune at the shrine.

Getting a “Lucky” fortune at the shrine will automatically get you to great condition, though the odds of doing so are quite low. Be sure to save before trying to get back to recover from tired or sick status using this method.

Advantages of Being Tired or Sick in Previous Persona 3 Games

Lets you raise Courage quickly at the school clinic.

While you will be at a disadvantage in battle when you are tired or sick, you will gain bonus Courage by visiting the school clinic. Because of this, you may want to avoid getting better to raise Courage as fast as possible in the game.
