Strategy

This pure melee strength build focuses on dealing high physical damage at the cost of having no ranged attacks. Two-handing either Dragon Bone Smasher and Crushing Mirdan Hammer grants you incredible damage numbers from having high Strength. This allows you to take out most regular enemies in a few hits while dishing out impressive damage numbers on bosses as well.

Because of its lack of any spells to recover HP, you may need to stock up on items such as Half Moon Grass and Full Moon Grass throughout the game. You can pump a few points into Faith instead to allow you to use healing spells and even Second Chance for a bit more survivability.

For access to some ranged attacks, you can also invest a modest amount of points to Dexterity, enough to wield good bows such as the Compound Long Bow or White Bow.

Strategy

This mage build has an access to a variety of powerful offensive and defensive spells that can deal with most types of enemies during the game’s main story. Your primary offensive spells are Homing Soul Arrow and Fireball which should be used interchangeably depending on your enemy’s resistances.

For fighting melee foes, you can cast Warding to easily tank through their attacks, though staying at a distance and peppering them with spells will likely be enough to make short work of them.

Bosses with low to moderate fire resistance can be dealt with quickly using Firestorm. With a high enough Magic stat, most bosses will die in one or two casts even on New Game Plus (NG+).
