Permanent Events

Please note that information here is for the original Demon’s Souls on the Playstation 3. We will update this page with information for Demon’s Souls Remake on the Playstation 5 when the game comes out.

Character Appearance and Starting Class

You will not be able to change your character’s appearance and starting class after they have been confirmed in the character creation menu. Be sure to customize your character and choose its starting classes carefully before deciding to begin your adventure.

Souls

You will drop all of your accumulated souls if you die in the game. To recover them, you must go to the spot where you died and touch the bloodstain. The souls you dropped will disappear permanently if you die again without recovering them.

Killed NPCs

Killing NPCs prevents you from accessing any side quests that are unlocked by talking to them until your next playthrough cycle (New Game+). You also will not be able to buy from any merchants NPCs when they are dead.

Note that Mephistopheles’ side quests which require you to kill certain NPCs is best done just before you face the game’s final boss.

World Tendency Events

Certain enemies, NPCs, and events that drop or give unique rewards will only appear on either White or Black world tendency. It is possible to miss them on your playthrough by not meeting the right world tendency to make certain elements and characters appear.

Endings

At the end of the game, you will have a choice to either get the good or bad ending depending on your actions after defeating King Allant. These two separate events grant you different rewards so it is recommended to choose which of the two you would like to get before moving on to New Game+.
