Strategy

Offline and Online Old Monk

The Old Monk is simply a black phantom that may either be controlled by AI (offline) or another player (online). If playing offline, the Old Monk uses Claws that cause bleeding an wears the Gloom Armor Set and Monk’s Head Collar. When online, however, you will have to engage in player-versus-player with an invading player.

The AI-controlled version can be defeated by baiting out his claw swipes and getting in a few hits before he recovers. Alternatively, you can defeat him easily with any weapon that can continously knock him down everytime he gets up. Some good options for this strategy are weapons such as the Dragon Bone Smasher and Meatcleaver.

The AI-controlled Old Monk will equip a catalyst when at low health to use Homing Soul Arrown that does massive damage if they connect. Strafe and dodge to his side and retaliate before he turns to your direction again.
