Strategy
Another Maneater spawns during the fight.
A second Maneater will appear past a minute in the boss area to make the fight more difficult. It is recommended to try and kill off the first one or have it at very low health before the second appears.
Strafe to avoid the boss’ melee attacks.
Most of the boss’ melee attacks, including its forward pounce, can be avoided by strafing or dodging to its side. Its frontal strikes do no have particularly good tracking, making them easy to dodge with the right timing. Just be careful not to fall off the ledges on either side of the narrow boss area.
When the boss uses its sonic wave attack, simply roll backwards to avoid suffering magic damage.
Interrupt its self buff.
The boss will sometimes stand still as its snake-like tail bites its neck to grant it a temporary increase in attack power. Unload on the boss to get in stack a good amount of damage on it and interrupt its self buff.
Deal fire or magic damage.
Imbuing your weapon with fire or magic is recommended for quickly taking out a good amount of the boss’ health. Use Turpentine or Black Turpentine if you have any in your inventory.
Mage characters can alternatively use Fire Spray or Soul Ray to easily burst down the Maneater, allowing you to deal with the next one by itself.
Using the brazier
You can get behind the brazier in the center of the boss area to avoid the boss’ melee attacks as well as its Soul Ray when it goes airborne. While this is a viable strategy to defeat the boss, it is somewhat time consuming and likely force you to fight two Maneaters at the same time.
