Strategy

The Old Hero is blind.

The Old Hero will be groping around to find you and will only attack if you get too close or if he is hit. He will always attack in the direction that he is hit so take advantage of this weakness and immediately get out of harm’s way after landing a few hits.

Use the Thief’s Ring.

Wearing the Thief’s Ring makes it even harder for the Old Hero to detect you if you approach him by sneaking up to him.

Wear light armor.

You are more likely to be detected when sneaking up on him if you wear heavy armor. Use lighter equipment when fighting him as this also allows you to quickly roll out of harms way when he does his pouncing slash attack.

Use the pillars.

The pillars grant you additional cover to approach the Old Hero undetected, though it is still recommended to be wearing the Thief’s Ring and light armor when fighting him.
