Location
Vanguard can be found during the opening tutorial and at the Shrine of Storms 4-1.
Strategy
Strafe to the side.
Vanguard’s attacks have very poor tracking so just constantly strafing him lets you avoid most of its attacks. The only attack you need to watch out for is his ground slam. When you see the boss go airborne a few inches from the ground, back away to avoid taking damage and getting knocked down from the shockwave.
