This article contains the Armored Vehicle Upgrades as part of the Gunrunning Update in Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5). It includes the recommended Upgrades and the corresponding Armored Vehicles.
Recommended Armored Vehicle Upgrades
For all compatible Armored Vehicles such as the APC, Half-track, Dune FAV, and Weaponized Tampa consider upgrading them with the Proximity Mine dispenser. The upside to this is that the ammunition is infinite, the downside is that a maximum of 5 can be deployed at a time. Dropped using the horn feature, this weapon is best utilized when being pursued at full throttle.
Anti-Aircraft Trailer
Upgrades consist of 20mm Flak Cannon and Lock-on missiles. For those with Ground type enemies in mind, 20mm is suitable because of the rockets. Lock-ons are staple but are limited due to the 30 Missile count.
HVY APC
Consider adding a Proxy Mine dispenser. Ignore the SAM Missiles attachment since not only does it cap at 60 rounds but they also lack the lock-on feature.
Half-track
It is upgrade it with a Cabin Armor, transforming its standard windows to become compact. This allows it to minimize bullets from piercing through the interior. Do note that this comes at the expense of losing the ability to drive-by, so adjust according to your needs.
Weapons-wise, it is compatible with Quad 20mm which function as a stock weapon.
Dune FAV
Standard Machine Gun, 40mm Grenade Launcher, or 7.62mm Minigun are all possible choices for weapon attachment. Due to its frail defenses, it is best to capitalize on all-out offense and arm the vehicle with a Grenade Launcher.
Oppressor
Although it is only limited to lock-on rockets as an upgrade, be sure to grab it whenever you can. With the starting 20 ammunition, you can bypass it by registering as MC President, then despawn it and respawn it to quickly refill the load.
Weaponized Tampa
It is compatible with Armor Plating but the effect is negligible. Best to focus on stocking up weapons such as the Dual Minigun, Uncontrolled Missile Launcher, and Rear Mortar. The former introduces a swiveling Minigun while raising damage per second, the Missile Launcher which comes with 20 Rockets, allows you to fire straight shots; and the latter takes care of trajectory based concerns by supplementing with a Grenade. It provides around 20 Mortars. In addition, like most vehicle upgrades be sure to avail of the Proxy Mine dispenser.
How to Unlock the Proximity Mine
In order to use the Proximity Mine on an Armored Vehicle, locate the Vehicle Workshop and conduct a Research. This will cost $99,000.
