Recruiting Dante

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster - How to Get Dante

To get Dante to join your party, you must progress to the Labyrinth of Amala’s Fifth Kalpa. This requires you to defeat Beelzebub in the Fourth Kalpa and getting the Star Key from the Collector Manikin in Asakusa.

Always Call Heads

Asking Dante to join you will cause him to flip a coin to decide how much you must pay to hire him. Note that he uses a double-headed one, so always choose heads. If you call it right, he will join your party for 1 Macca. Calling it wrong, however, will force you to pay him half of your current Macca.

Do Not Enter Tower of Kagutsuchi

Note that progressing through the different Kalpas of the Labyrinth of Amala is only possible if you have not entered the Tower of Kagutsuchi yet which is the game’s final dungeon. Be sure to avoid going in the tower if you want to recruit Dante.

Steps to Get Dante

1 After defeating Beelzebub in the Fourth Kalpa, talk to the Mothman in the area.
2 Go back to the Second Kalpa and talk to the Ifrit found at the end of the path in the Curse Corridor.
3 Head to Ginza and talk to Loki in Nyx’s Lounge.
4 Proceed to Asakusa and talk to the Collector Manikin to get the Star Key.
5 Travel to the Third Kalpa (B1F) and go south to the door and jump down the hole. You should find a switch to open the locked door in the Fourth Kalpa.
6 Go to the Fourth Kalpa and through the portal (Kagutsuchi phase must be an odd number).
7 Follow path as it slopes down to another portal at the end and go down the ladder.
8 Continue moving toward the path and exit to the north.
9 Look through the peephole and enter the Fifth Kalpa. Note that the Candelabra you need to enter is the one that the Lady in Black gave you in the beginning.
10 Talk to Dante upon entering the Fifth Kalpa. Call heads when he flips a coin to get him to join you for 1 Macca.
