Magatama Guide in Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster
Magatamas are living parasites that fuses partially with the Protagonist in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne: HD Remaster. This makes him a being that has the body of a demon and the heart of the human called a Demi-fiend. As a Demi-fiend, he uses the powers of Magatama to buff allies and destroys enemy Demons.
There are 25 Magatamas that can be acquired in the game. They function similarly to a loadout containing a specific armor type, weapon, skills, and spells. Each Magatama has its own strengths and weaknesses so the player is not encouraged to stick to one Magatama only. Magatamas must be equipped and leveled up to unlock more skills.
Types of Magatamas
There are two types of Magatamas. A Blue Magatama is a physical type while a Green Magatama is a magical type.
How to Unlock New Skills
Magatama Skills function similarly to Demon Skills in the game. In order to gain more skills, the Protagonist must equip it and engage in battles with other wild Demons.
Similar to Personas and the Demons, the Protagonist has a limited slot for his skills. As a Demi-fiend, he can only have eight skills. Skills can be active or passive and can range between physical, magical, recovery, and support skills. The player must be careful on which Magatama to level since its damage and effectiveness depends on the stats being leveled up in the game.
How to Acquire a Magatama
Magatamas are mostly obtained through Junk Shops. As the story progress, the player can visit new Junk Shops purchase new Magatamas for sale.
There are also some Magatamas that can be obtained by defeating Demon bosses or by completing special tasks in the game.
