This article contains the Method on how to Create a Solo Public Session during Online Play in Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5). It includes steps for all platforms, as well as PC, PS4, and Xbox One specific methods.

Solo Public Session

In Grand Theft Auto Online, it is often troublesome to Solo Grind Crates for CEO, MC Clubhouse, and Car Sourcing when Public Sessions are constantly receiving an influx of players. Before certain exploits were introduced, players were forced to create sessions hoping nobody else joins, and for unfortunate circumstances, they are compelled to exit out of their own and recreate a new one hoping nobody rejoins for the nth time. For players lacking any additional friends to perform the Majority kick on Online Public Sessions to allow them to grind, this method is a decent alternative to regain control over the created Public Session.

Unplug Router Method

This method should work regardless of which console GTA Online is running on. To perform, you have to unplug your router (not the one attached to the Console) for around 10 seconds until the rest of the players exit the public session.

PC: Task Manager Method

  • Start the game then launch GTA Online.
  • Enter a Public Session.
  • Return to your PC’s Desktop Menu.
  • Input Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Task Manager.
  • Select Performance.
  • Click to bring the dropdown of Open Resource Monitor.
  • Locate GTA5.exe then right-click on it and select Suspend Process, then confirm.
  • Idle for around 10 seconds, then use right-click again to Resume Process, then confirm.
  • Return to the game and if it is successful, everyone would have left the session by now.

PC/Xbox one: Port Blocking Method

Bear in mind that these steps are tried and tested on Windows only.

  • Hit Start Menu and type Network then Firewall.
  • From the advanced system, choose Windows Firewall.
  • Refer to the left hand corner and select Outbound connections.
  • On the left side, create a New Rule.
  • Choose Port then hit Next.
  • Click UDP then input the following:
    • PC R* Ports: 6672, 61455, 61457, 61456, and finally 61458. When done, choose Next.
    • For Xbox one players, try the following TCP Ports: 80, 443; and input the same R* Ports as the one mentioned above for the UDP Ports.
  • Click Block Connection, then tap Next twice to proceed.
  • Assign a name for this Rule.
  • Locate this New Rule then right click.
  • Select Disable Rule.
  • Start the game and Join a Grand Theft Auto: Online public Session.
  • Once you are inside the public session, right click the New Rule to enable it.
  • If successful, the players inside the Public Session should start leaving one by one.

To rejoin Public Sessions, simply disable the Rule and it should continue to populate as usual.

PS4: MTU Method

For the PS4, you need to be inside a public Session. Now access the Playstation Settings. Choose Date and Time then select “Set Manually.” Switch the month to the next month, the month is the first digit. Return to your game, it should lag out for around 20 seconds, wait for it to stabilize. If successful, the players should all have left the public session. Return to the Date and Time and input the previous settings.

Xbox One: MTU Method

This method is shorter than the Ps4 Method. To perform, you need to log in with your router. Head to the Advanced Settings then configure MTU to 1280. Similar to the Unplug Router Method, it should take around 10 seconds for the lag to take effect. Reconfigure the MTU to the default setting of 1500.
