Cataris Walkthrough and Guide in Metroid Dread

Traveling through the 3rd EMMI Zone

Heading to the Central Unit

Cataris
Defeat Kraid (Boss)
| 1 | Prepare to battle Kraid (boss). |

| 2 | First Phase
Kraid’s weak point is his mouth. Use Missiles and Charge Beam to damage him. Kraid will frequently shoot giant nails at you that come twice from the bottom or twice from the top. You can destroy them using Missile or normal Arm Cannon Attacks. To destroy the nails (under), use Free Aim and shoot Kraid at the mouth. The nails can be avoided by moving back and forth. Kraid will also shoot fire projectiles from his mouth that you can shoot down. Destroying them yields energy and Missile ammo. |
| 3 | Second Phase
Kraid will begin to fire various types of projectiles from its belly. When the middle hole glows purple, Kraid will fire projectiles that inflict poison. Avoid these by jumping. When the hole does not glow, Kraid will shoot out bouncing balls that you can destroy them with Charge Beam to get energy and Missile ammo. Kraid can also fire sharp pieces of bone from all three holes on its belly. Use these to climb up and cling on the magnet strip above. From there, use Free Aim and fire at Kraid’s mouth to damage him further. Note that Kraid will hurl his claws again at you when you are attacking his head. |
