Metroid Dread is a single-player, action-adventure, and side-scroller Metroidvania game. The game is developed by MercurySteam and Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the fifth main entry of the Metroid series and it follows Metroid: Samus Returns, the previous entry that launched last September 15, 2017, for the Nintendo 3DS.
Initially, Metroid Dread was planned to become a 2005 sequel for Metroid Fusion. Unfortunately, it was canceled due to technical limitations. Dread was on hiatus for 15 years until the idea of the game was revived following the success of Samus Returns. Mercury Steam developed the game in partnership with Nintendo EPD.
Metroid Dread aims to target veterans, fans, and newcomers to the Metroidvania series. The same development team, MercurySteam, who worked on Metroid: Samus Returns was invited by co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto to work on Metroid Dread. The game is scheduled to release on October 8, 2021.

(Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifier) units is sent preliminary by the federation in order to capture the X Parasite and utilize them as bioweapons. Unfortunately, these units disappeared and so Samus Aran is sent on a mission to travel to planet ZDR and investigate.
After arriving at ZDR, she meets a hostile Chozo General and steals her abilities. Without her power-ups and access to the surface of ZDR, Samus explores the planet’s in order to gain access back to her ship. She encounters the lost E.M.M.I. robots that have gone rogue and now seeks to eliminate her. Along the way, she meets a Living Chozo who explains to her what occurred to the Chozo on SR388.
ADAM, a computerized version of Adam Malkovich, provides the player story information and mission objectives. ADAM can be accessed through the Communication Rooms placed in different locations in the game. Metroid Dread will conclude the series’ main story arc starting from the original game. Also, explain the connection between Samus and the Metroids.

Samu’s movement in Metroid Dread was improved. The movement speed is faster compared to other previous titles.
Free Aim was reworked that you can target enemies while moving objects or enemies. Also, it is now a standard ability.
Similar to Free Aim, Melee Counter is already available. as a standard ability. Now it can be used while running with a Dash Melee.
The Magnetic Grapples enables Samus to grapple in order to climb a wall.
The Phantom Cloak is a new ability that makes Samus temporarily invisible. This is useful against E.M.M.I., an enemy that pursues the protagonist relentlessly throughout the game.
