How to Unlock Hard Mode in Metroid Dread
Hard Mode is a higher difficulty setting that offers a tougher challenge for more experienced players. It is unlocked after beating the game on Normal Mode with any clear time record.
Starting Hard Mode
Upon clearing the game, Hard Mode can be selected upon starting a new game from the title screen menu. As indicated in the game’s description when choosing the difficulty, it is intended for “expert players.” Note that you cannot change the difficulty setting afterwards when you begin a new playthrough.
Changes in Hard Mode
Tougher Enemies and Bosses
Regular enemies and bosses will have more health and deal more damage in Hard Mode. Because of this, it is recommended to spend time doing practice runs on Normal difficulty, especially if you have not unlocked all Ending Rewards on that setting.
Ending Rewards (Hard Mode Only)
When you are ready to take on Hard Mode, try to get a clear time of less than 4 hours to unlock all Ending Rewards on that difficulty setting.
