Crossbreeding a Lunar Tear Flower

Here is a walkthrough for crossbreeding Lunar Tear Flowers. The walkthrough applies the timezone manipulation for the latest consoles, particularly, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

We do not suggest using fertilizers in planting for these seeds. Also, this method will consume more than two days.

Feel free to correct and share your approach in the comments section.

Method: Low Risk, High Investment (4 Days)

Get Red, Gold, and Blue Moonflower Seeds

1 Go to a nearby florist or item shopkeeper.
2 Buy at least Red Moonflower seeds x15, Gold Moonflower seeds x15, and Blue Moonflower seeds x6. You can buy up to 30 seeds for each variant as insurance.
3 Head to NieR’s garden to start planting the seeds.

Get Peach Moonflower Seeds

1 Before planting the seeds, set your console timezone to “UTC -11:00 American Samoa”.
2 Plant the seeds in a Red/Gold/Red/Gold/Red row pattern and save your game.
3 Return to your timezone settings (no need to close the game) and move forward your time to “UTC 13:00 Independent State of Samoa”. This makes the growth period jump to 24 hours.
4 Reload your save file and check which moonflower plots have grown. Make sure to have at least Peach Moonflowers x3 or more (10% Success Rate).
5 Optional: If you want to have more Peach Moonflowers, don’t save yet and take note of the seed plots that did not give moonflowers. Go back to “UTC – 11:00” and reload your latest save file. Then, replant the right moonflower seeds again to those plots and save. After that move forward again to “UTC +13:00” to check.
6 Wait until day 2. Continue playing the main story or accomplish other side quests to consume time.
7 When you reach day 2, return to NieR’s garden, water the Peach Moonflowers, and save nearby. Move your timezone to “UTC +13:00” to harvest moonflower seeds.
8 Make sure to have more Peach Moonflower seeds x9 or more.

  1. Thank you for the guide. I am confused on some parts though:

    Peach Moonflower
Step 3 (5 if you repeat cycle) you already set the clock to +13 Samoa, so then how do you set it again to +13 Samoa in Step 7?

When you say “Day 2” do you mean a game day, or IRL day? I’m assuming IRL day, but time is still set at +13 Samoa from step 3 (or 5)

I think it should be mentioned that the time needs to be re-set to -11 Samoa, wait a day, then forward to +13 Samoa.

    • I suggest coming the next day and water the moonflowers before you save and execute the timezone skip for obtaining moonflower seeds. Already updated this part in the guide.

    • Thanks for your feedback, Monk. You can change your timezone instead. You can read our latest update for this guide or refresh the page.

    • Hi! We were informed as well about the system clock issues with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. We’ll update the guide
