Nier Replicant Remaster’s New Content Revealed
Nier Replicant Remaster Ver. 1.22474487139 is set to come out on April 23rd, 2021. With just a few days before its anticipated launch, the Extra Content Trailer was released, showcasing many of the game’s additional features.
The video included footage of additional dungeons, costumes, weapons, and an entirely new section of the main story not available in the previous iterations of the game. You can watch the Extra Content Trailer below.
Extra Dungeons
“15 Nightmares”
As shown in the Extra Content trailer, additional explorable dungeons called “15 Nightmares” will be included in Nier Replicant Remaster. These areas were previously only available through a paid DLC in the original Playstation 3 versions of the game (Nier Gestalt in North America and Nier Replicant in Japan).
Playable “Papa” Nier
Old Nier will become playable in the 15 Nightmares content of Nier Replicant Remaster. “Papa” Nier, as he is nicknamed by fans, appeared as the protagonist of Nier Gestalt, the previous version of the game released in North America and Europe. Nier Replicant, meanwhile, lets players control Young and Adult Nier and was only released in Japan.
Extra Costumes and Weapons
“Kabuki and Samurai” Costumes
The Kabuki and Samurai outfits which were previously unlockable in Nier Replicant make their return in Nier Replicant Remaster. These costumes can be equipped by adult Nier and Kaine, as seen in the trailer.
To obtain the Kabuki and Samurai outfits, it is assumed that players must clear certain areas of the 15 Nightmares dungeons as with the previous version of the game.
“4 YoRHa” Costumes
Costumes and weapons from Nier Automata will also appear as free downloadable content (DLC) for Nier Replicant Remaster in the form of the “4 YoRHA” equipment set.
Among the costumes shown in the trailer included in the 4 YoRHA are the “9S” outfit for young Nier which changes his attire to the one worn by 9S from Nier Automata.
For Adult Nier, players can choose to equip a standard YoRHA outfit which is similar to 9S’s uniform but modified for a more mature version of the protagonist.
Kaine, meanwhile, will be able to don the “2B” and “A2” outfits used by Nier Automata’s other main characters.
“4 YoRHa” Weapons
The 4 YoRHA set also includes new weapons such as iconic Cruel Oath and Virtuous Treaty. Other weapons from Nier Automata are also expected to make their appearance in the remaster.
Guest Appearance of Nier Automata VAs
The Extra Content trailer also confirmed that voice actors from the Japanese version of Nier Automata will be part of the game as guest performers in Nier Replicant Remaster. The confirmed cast includes Yui Ishikawa (2B), Natsuki Hanae (9S), Ayaka Suwa (A2), Aoi Yuki (Pascal), and Kaoru Akiyama (Pod 153).
Kira Buckland and Kyle McCarley, who are the English voice actors for 2B and 9S respectively, have also been confirmed in the guest performance roster.
Nier Automata Soundtrack
Music from Nier Automata will also be added as unlockable tracks in Nier Replicant Remaster. Players will then be able to select and play background music during play.
Extra Episode
“Mermaid”
Nier Replicant Remaster also includes a new section of the main story simply called “Mermaid.” As shown in the trailer, Nier and his party will explore a mysterious wrecked ship and meet a little girl named Louise during this section of the game.
New Shade Boss
The trailer ends with footage of what is described as ” an invincible and mighty Shade that could never be killed.” This new enemy is likely the final boss that players must defeat to clear the extra episode.
