Walkthrough
Nier’s Village
| 1 | Kill the shades. Use your two-handed sword (Kusanagi) and magic to quickly take out the enemies. |

| 2 | Talk to the woman kneeling over the body and watch the cutscene. Afterwards, go to the library and talk to Popola to get the letter for Emil. |
| 3 | Head to the Southern Plains. |
Southern Plains
| 1 | Follow the marked destination to the Haunted Manor. |

Haunted Manor
| 1 | After talking to Emil, go outside to the courtyard and examine the fountain. |

| 2 | Head down the secret path under the courtyard’s stairs to reach the underground facility. |
Strategy
Use Kusanagi.
Beginning the second story route gives you access to two-handed swords. You will get Kusanagi as your default two-handed sword. While it is slow, it has a wide swing and can knock down enemies. Use it to kill the shades near the village quickly.
Stock up on items before entering the underground facility.
Be sure to have a good supply of healing items when entering the underground facility since you will be up against groups of shades and a boss in the area. Stop by the village’s market area first before heading out.
