The most obvious of Live A Live Remake’s differences from the old version is its redesigned visuals which now run on HD-2D. Character sprites, backgrounds, and effects have all been completely modernized and harness the graphical capabilities of the Nintendo Switch while retaining the overall charm of classic-style JRPGs.

Live A Live Remake also boasts new artwork for the game’s various playable and non-playable characters. All currently revealed designs of the different protagonists, however, remain generally unchanged from the original 1994 release on the Super Famicom and remain true to the source material.

Voice Acting

Another new feature found in Live A Live Remake is the addition of full voice acting throughout the game, including during cutscenes and battles. This adds a layer of immersion and further gives life to the various playable and non-playable characters in each of the remake’s different story chapters.

Rearranged Music

Live A Live Remake’s soundtrack has been rearranged under the supervision of acclaimed video game composer Yoko Shimomura who worked on the title’s original music in 1994. Among the most notable of these rearranged tracks is the classic “Go! Go! Steel Titan!” performed by Hironobu Kageyama who is known for high energy vocal performances found in popular anime and sentai shows.
