Which Earthen Heart Shifu disciple should you train?

Best Student: Yun Jou

If you’re looking for the best student to carry over in the final chapter, Yun Jou is the best candidate among the three pupils of Shifu. Yun Jou can inherit all of Earthen Heart Shifu’s abilities and his stat bonuses when leveling up will benefit you in the end game.

However, you need to invest time for him to level up, especially when facing the mini-bosses of the Imperial China chapter of the game. If you’re not able to clear a certain mini-boss stage, you may need to grind to the Bamboo Forest to gain more levels from Tiger enemies.

Optional Best Student: Lei Kugo

Lei Kugo is your best choice if you prefer a character different from Earthen Heart Shifu’s abilities and playstyle. You can inherit some of his abilities but you are still predominantly playing as Lei. You’re a balanced fighter that can deal melee and range damage to enemies.

Also, if you want to have a female party member in your final roster of characters with a hit-and-run playstyle, Lei Kugo is yours to pick.

Alternate Student: Hong Hakka

Hong Hakka is an alternate choice if you want to defeat the final boss in the first phase only as an additional challenge. The ability “Pork’s Second Cooking” is effective against a hard-to-beat part of the final boss, the Odio Mole, since it deals set damage and does not trigger its own ability “Revenge Storm”.
