Easter Egg: Coliseum Ruins [The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild]

Coliseum Ruins

The Coliseum Ruins in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a landmark where you can defeat waves of enemies. You can find the Coliseum to the north of The Great Plateau.

The Coliseum causes monsters to rank up as you progress in your adventure. The landmark will also summon some very powerful opponents later on, such as the Silver Lynel (the hardest enemy to defeat in the game).

Also, you can find two treasure chests at the top of the ruins.

  1. The Coliseum is a great place to get great weapons and shields… if you know what you’re doing. Use the Stealth Armor (or a good level 2 or 3 sneaky meal) and a decently strong weapon (I’d recommend a longsword with at least 30+ damage, 40-50+ if you can manage).

Something you have to pay attention to is that all the enemies on each of the 3 upper floors of the coliseum are facing the same “direction” (though it alternates between ‘floors’). If you’re careful, it’s trivial to sneak up on each and every one of them and sneakstrike (‘y’ near an unaware foe from behind) and instakill each one. Start from the top floor, work your way down, and be careful not to alert the Lynael in the middle, he’s tough.

In the lategame, you can easily farm Royal weapons and shields this way.
