One of the mini-bosses in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that Link encounters are the Talus. It represents more of a legion of huge boulders than the anthropomorphic golem. Although it moves sluggishly due to its size, Talus has a number of attacks that deal massive damage. There are different variations of Talus, some of which require employing a certain strategy in order to defeat.

Strategy
All the Talus mini-bosses, regardless of variation have a primary strategy which relies on their concrete “arms” to hurl them against Link.
The best way to handle one is to plant bombs on its arms to detonate. For each time the bomb connects, it will cause the Talus to drop down. This provides you an opportunity to scale its back and attack the exposed cranial node, a component from crystal – its weak point. If you manage to target this weak point quick enough, it grants you to deal additional hits.
Since its weak point is made of stone, the best weapons to use against it while it’s vulnerable are melee weapons that are advantageous against rocks such as: iron sledgehammers, cobble crushers, stone smashers, and boulder breakers. These weapons can be obtained in Eldin. The offense that these line of weapons offer are remarkable so much that even their durability can withstand a longer period of time before degrading.
For specific conditions, such as an encounter with a Talus that has its crystal protruding from the side, there is no need to scale its back. Simply arm a spear that allows a longer reach, then aim above to strike the weak point. One example of this Talus is the one that guards the Hyrule Castle’s East Passage.
Another variant is the Igneo Talus which has the power of fire. It slightly varies from other Talus variants in that if you are not equipped with a Flamebreaker armor set upgraded to level 2, you might have to face it cautiously as one contact with its charcoal-like body can singe you. In case you lack the fireproof armaments, strike the Igneo Talus with a weapon endowed with ice or with Ice Arrows to temporarily nullify its burning properties, then follow with a Remote Bomb toss to make it stumble. This provides you a chance to scale its cooled back to deal heavy damage to its weak point.
Next is the Frost Talus which exhibits the element of Ice. Without a full level 2 Snowquill armor set, it can cripple you with Freeze. Similar to the Igneo variant, having some elemental arrows such as the Fire Arrows in this case will heat it enough to bring it down and have its weak point exposed to a flurry of attacks.
Upon taking out a Talus, it will drop multiple gemstones. By grasping the combat style of these mini-bosses, they provide ideal sites for farming precious minerals that can be sold for Rupees.
Pebblits
A miniature counterpart of the Talus, Pebblits are less alarming but become more annoying when faced in large quantities. The best way to get rid of them is to toss Remote Bombs to detonate in multiples. If you wish to take them up close, the weapons designed to smash rocks such as Iron Sledgehammer will make quick work of them.
