Akane’s Joker Boss Strategies
Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:
Carry SP Recovery Items
Before engaging the boss, bring a stock of HP and SP recovery items. These items can be bought from accessible vending machines, food stands, stores, and restaurants. You can also buy ingredients from Sophia’s Shop and other real-world stores. Then, cook these ingredients for additional HP and SP items through Joker’s Kitchen.
Always Win the Quick Time Battles
Start the battle by winning the quick time event against the boss. Tap the attack button as much as you can to stagger Akane’s Joker. There will be another quick time event so be ready at all times.
Land Debuffs
Again, winning the quick time event will make the boss stunned. This leaves Joker an opportunity to use debuff skills. Debuffs can be in the form of attack power decrease (Tarunda), defense power decrease (Rakunda), and evasion/critical evasion decrease (Sukunda). These debuffs can be accessed by Joker (from Arsene and other Personas).
Cast Buffs
Keep your distance from the boss and use buff skills to boost Joker’s capabilities. Buffs can be in the form of attack power increase (Tarukaja), defense power increase (Rakukaja), and evasion/critical evasion increase (Sukukaja). These buffs can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas).
Alternatively, Joker can consume kitchen dishes with bonus party buff effects. This is helpful when your party members run out of SP during battle. These dishes include Miso Ramen, Seafood Bowl, Goat Soup, Goya Chanpuru, Kushikatsu, and Osaka Sushi.
Best Dishes to Cook in Joker’s Kitchen
Boost Physical or Elemental Damage
You may also use Charge and Concentrate buffs to boost your damage even further if available.
Use Almighty Attacks
Akane’s Joker does not have weaknesses but using Almighty attacks is an effective way to damage it. To increase its damage, use a Concentrate buff. This buff can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas) only.
Use Elemental Attacks to Inflict Status Ailments
Akane’s Joker is not resistant to status or Mental Ailments. To inflict Status Ailments such as Burn, Freeze, or Shock, use Fire attacks, Ice attacks, or Electricity attacks respectively. For Mental Ailments, you can choose between Makajama (for Forget), Evill Touch (for Fear), Nocturnal Flash (for Dizzy), or Dormina (for Sleep).
Deal Technical Damage
When the boss is inflicted with a Status Ailment such as Freeze or Shock, deal Technical Damage by using Physical, Gun, or Nuclear attacks.
For Burn status, use Wind or Nuclear Attacks. As for Mental Ailments such as Fear, use Psychokinesis attacks. Be mindful of your HP or SP consumption when bombarding cognitive Joker with these attacks.
Capitalize on Terrain Gimmicks
There are two terrain gimmicks accessible on the battlefield. Quickly transfer on them and use Phantom Dash to hurt the boss.
Terrain Gimmick | Strategy |
---|---|
Red Lantern | You can lure Akane’s Joker near the lamp post. Use Phantom Dash to get up on the lamp post and spin to deal consistent physical damage. |
Scooter | Lure the boss near the motorbike and destroy it. Apart from the massive damage to Akane’s Joker, it will also inflict ailments to it such as Dizzy or Burn. This allows you to unleash follow-up attacks before he can retaliate, including Technical Damage. |
Unleash Showtime Attacks
While engaging Akane’s Joker, you may build up your Showtime gauge. If the boss is not affected by any ailment, use a Physical or Gun-type Showtime attack. If the boss is afflicted with an ailment such as Freeze, Shock, or Burn, use an elemental-type Showtime Attack that can deal additional Technical damage. Also, there is a consumable item that will quickly boost your Showtime gauge build up so feel free to use it against the boss.
