Homing Launcher Guide

The Homing Launcher is a Heavy weapon in Grand Theft Auto V. This weapon is great for dealing against mobile targets due to its Homing feature, tracking the desired enemy with its rocket. Combining the tracking capability and trigger guard of man-portable surface-to-air missile launchers, its warhead can be seen from the outside when loaded.

Strategy

As of the Heists Update, the Homing Launcher received an boos in reload time, while lowering its fire-rate.

At the expense of $75,000 cash in total for Online Play, the Homing Launcher shines as a tracking weapon for dealing with enemy vehicles especially fighter jets which excel at traveling long distances. It competes with the Minigun when it comes to the staple weapon for dealing against enemy aircrafts. Best to deal with retreating enemies than incoming ones, as the latter are able to dodge the missiles.

The downside to using this weapon is that it suffers from a terrible lock-on time of 2~3 seconds, forcing players to be quick to their feet. Ammunition-wise, it can only shoulder a maximum capacity of 10 rockets as opposed to the RPG’s 20. Propelling this weapon against durable vehicles that have protective plates would tend to scatter the blast. These enemy vehicles may avoid sustaining the impact of the rocket but they are still vulnerable to the residual damage from the shot.

It is a recommended weapon for repelling incoming attacks from enemy aircrafts as it will tend to pursue after them as they back away, sacrificing attack for dodging. When fired against sluggish planes and unarmored vehicles, its immense power can make quick work of them.
