Molduga Mini-boss Guide [The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild]

These belong to the Mini-bosses in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Moldugas are massive worms that lurk beneath the sand dunes of the Kingdom. They are able to hear the vibrations from the prey at the surface. If you tread the desert, there is a chance that you are trespassing the territories of a Molduga. Their instinct is to immediately pursue after the prey to rise from the sand to deal huge amounts of damage.

Avoid the low lying areas and make sure to stay on the elevated terrain to avoid exposure to their gaping jaws.

To summon it from the depths, face the patch of low lying sand and toss a Remote Bomb. Wait for the Molduga to approach it, this is shown through the Question mark (?) that will display that it has taken notice of the bomb’s presence. Once it resurfaces, it will attempt to consume the bomb whole.

Wait for the bomb to reach its suckers, then detonate it. This will put the Molduga in an unconscious state. Depending on the distance, you can either sprint up to it or use the Paraglider to descend to the paralyzed Molduga. Proceed to lay some melee stabs or strikes while it’s still immobile.

By the time it awakens, there are two options to consider: you could either head back to the elevated terrain and bait it again to continue with the process, or you could opt for a more bold but riskier tactic.

The alternative strategy employs the use of a multi-hit bow armed with Bomb arrows. After the Molduga has just awakened, you must locate a safe spot at the low lying area. Then as the Molduga is about to lunge at you with its attack, perform a well-timed dodge. This will leave it dumbfounded and open to a free Arrow Shot, as it continues on a hunt for Link. Shooting it will cause fireworks that deals heavy damage. You are now free to pull off some fierce chain of attacks.
