Guide on How to Defeat Reaper Secret Boss in Persona 5 Strikers

Reaper is the eighth and final Powerful Shadow enemy the Phantom Thieves must defeat in Persona 5 Strikers (or Persona 5 Scramble). The secret boss will be encountered at Okinawa’s Jail when the player cleared all the Post-Game Requests. You will not encounter this secret boss when playing the main story of the game.

Here is our recommended party member setup against the boss. Reapers are formidable foes owing to their lack of weaknesses. However, facing an enemy without weaknesses also paves the way for more options to build the team.

Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:

Carry HP and SP Recovery Items

Before engaging the boss, bring a stock of HP and SP recovery items. These items can be bought from accessible vending machines, food stands, store, and restaurants. You can also buy ingredients from Sophia’s Shop and other real world stores. Then, cook these ingredients for additional HP and SP items through Joker’s Kitchen.

Land Debuffs

Start the battle by landing multiple debuffs on Reaper. Debuffs can be in the form of attack power decrease (Tarunda), defense power decrease (Rakunda), and evasion/critical evasion power decrease (Sukunda). These debuffs can be accessed by Joker (from Arsene and other Personas). Another option is by using Debilitate for an all-in-one debuff. This special debuff can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas) and Wolf.

Cast Buffs

Follow-up the debuffs with party members buffs. Buffs can be in the form of attack power increase (Tarukaja or Matarukaja), defense power increase (Rakukaja or Marakukaja), and evasion/critical evasion increase (Sukukaja or Masukukaja). These buffs can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas), Skull, and Fox. Another option is by using Heat Riser for an all-in-one buff. This special buff can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas) and Wolf.

Alternatively, you party can consume kitchen dishes with bonus party buff effects. This is helpful when you party members ran out of SP during battle. These dishes include Miso Ramen, Seafood Bowl, Goat Soup, Goya Chanpuru, Kushikatsu, and Osaka Sushi.

You may also use Charge and Concentrate buffs to boost your damage even further if available. These buffs can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas) and Skull.

Use Almighty Attacks

Reaper does not have weaknesses but using Almighty attacks is an effective way to damage it. To increase its damage, use a concentrate buff. This buff can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas) only.

Deal Critical Hits by using Phys and Gun Attacks

In order to break the stagger gauge shields of the boss, use Physical and Gun Attacks that deal Critical Hits. Physical Attacks includes Deathbound, Megaton Raid, Myriad Slashes, Brave Blade, Sword Dance, Agneyastra, God’s Hand, and Hassou Tobi. As for Gun attacks, use Triple Down, One-shot Kill, and Riot Gun. Having Critical Hit boost passives will increase your chances to pick off the shields of the boss. You can also use other Physical or Gun Attacks in order to lower the HP of the boss. Just make sure that the party is healed consistently by Joker’s healer Personas.

Cure Inflicted Ailments

If a party member got inflicted with a Status Ailment such as Burn, Shock or Freeze, make sure that you have access to a Status Recovery skill called Amrita Drop or Amrita Shower to cure it. You can also use status recovery items to remove the Mental Ailment if available. Status Recovery skills can be accessed by Joker (from other Personas).

Deal Technical Damage by using Phys, Gun, and Nuke Attacks

Reaper is susceptible to Status Ailment skills such Shock or Freeze. If the boss is inflicted with Shock or Freeze status, use a Physical, Gun, or Nuclear attack to deal additional damage to the boss.

Anticipate Special Moves

While damaging the boss, it will use its unique attacks against your party. During the second phase, the boss will start using its gun attack frequently.

Elemental Attack	Strategy
Teleport	The Reaper will sink to the ground and teleport to another spot in order avoid your attacks further. Don’t go all out to the boss and observe to avoid wasting HP and SP.

Avoid Physical or Elemental Attacks

The secret boss will unleash third tier elemental or magic skills to hurt your party. During the second phase, the boss will use elemental attacks frequently.

Elemental Attack	Strategy
Riot Gun	The Reaper will shoot your character multiple times. Keep dashing to dodge the attacks. You can also switch to Joker (with a Gun-type Persona equipped) to resist the damage.
Maragidyne (Fire Attack)	Get some distance away from Reaper and keep dashing until all five Fire attacks hits the ground. You can also switch to Joker (with a Fire-type Persona equipped) or Panther to resist the damage.
Magarudyne (Wind Attack)	Get away from the front of the Reaper. Move sideways to evade the three Wind attacks. You can also switch to Joker (with a Wind-type Persona equipped) or Mona to resist the damage.
Mabufudyne (Ice Attack)	Get some distance away from the Reaper. Wait until the wide area Ice attack is released. You can also switch to Joker (with a Ice-type Persona equipped) or Fox to resist the damage.
Maziodyne (Electricity Attack)	Move to another spot away from the targeted areas of the Electricity attacks. You can also switch to Joker (with a Elec-type Persona equipped) or Skull to resist the damage.
Maeigaon (Curse Attack)	Get some distance away from the Reaper. Wait until the wide area Curse attacks are released. You can also switch to Joker (with a Curse-type Persona equipped) to resist the damage.
Megidolaon (Almighty Attack)	Once you see the Almighty attack prompt get away from the Reaper as soon as possible. The Almighty attack has a wide area reach so make sure all party members are fully healed.
Mapsiodyne (Psychokinesis Attack)	Move to another spot away from the targeted areas of the Psychokinesis attacks. You can also switch to Joker (with a Psy-type Persona equipped) or Noir to resist the damage.
Mafreidyne (Nuclear Attack)	Dodge the targeted area of the Nuclear attack. The range of the attack is small compared to Megidolaon. You can also switch to Joker (with a Nuke-type Persona equipped) or Queen to resist the damage.

Unleash Showtime Attacks

While engaging the Reaper, you may build up your Showtime gauge. When it’s available, unleash the Showtime attack against the boss. If Joker’s Showtime attack is available, make sure he has a Physical or Gun damage type Persona that can hurt the boss such as Yoshitsune. Also, there is a consumable item that will quickly boost your Showtime gauge build up so feel free to use it against the boss.
