Similar to other RPGs, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered also implements status effects in battles.

Status effects are conditions that worsen the performance of a character or enemy in battle. These consist of 12 types such as:

Status Effect Description How to Cure
Burn Make a character’s defense stat reduced by half and become slow for a brief period. Clear or wait for it to subside
Curse Makes a character’s Strength, Defense, and Magic stat reduced by half. The character’s attack power will be weaken while also suffering from major damage. Clear or wait for it to subside
Death Makes a character die while in battle. Use Life, Full-Life, or Phoenix Down
Freeze Makes a character unable to move and suffer double damage when hit. Clear or move control stick back and forth
Haste Makes a character move twice as fast and reduce magic and focus attack charging by half.
Knock Back Makes a character send to the back while being stunned for a brief period. Interrupts the attack. Avoid getting hit by a Knock Back attack
Paralysis A version of Freeze but your character won’t suffer double damage when hit. This also makes the character unable to dodge upcoming attacks. Caused by Thunder, Thundara, or Thundaga. Clear, wait for it to subside, or move control stick back and forth
Petrify Makes a character unable to move. Also, your character won’t be able to move and can’t use the control stick to escape. Clear or wait for it to subside
Poison Makes a character lose half of a heart every five seconds. Also, the status effect will wear off after 30 seconds. Clear or wait for it to subside
Slow Makes a character slow and it’s speed reduced by half. Also, a character’s charge up for magic and Focus Attacks are doubled. Clear or wait for it to subside
Stasis A version of Petrify, since you won’t be able to move and can’t use the control stick to escape. Clear or wait for it to subside
Stun A version of paralysis but for a shorter period. When you are inflicted by the status effect, you will be unable to move for a second or two. Wait for it to subside
