Tida Village – 1st Area (South)

Tida Village – 1st Area (North)

1	Walk west to find a pedestal covered with vines. Use Fire to destroy the vines and use the key on the pedestal.
2	Defeat more monsters as you press on further west while opening the 3rd treasure chest (Warrior’s Weapon Design x1) and the 4th treasure chest (Ice Brand Artifact x1) in the southeast and northwest corner.
3	Backtrack to the pedestal but this time take the path south.
4	Follow it to an open area with Earth Hot Spot, the 5th treasure chest (10 Gil) and the 6th treasure chest (Iron Armor Design x1).
5	Head for the abandoned house and examine the hole to enter the 9th Moogle Nest. Get the Moogle Stamp #3 inside and leave the nest.
6	Backtrack again further north above the vine-covered pedestal and past the cliffs. Take out the enemies ahead get a key to use on the door further north.
7	Take the path stretching east first before unlocking the door to the north. The 7th treasure chest (Helm of Arai Artifact x1) at the end of the path. Return to the locked door to the north and use the key to open it.

Tida Village – 2nd Area

1	Go north past the arch with a Fire Hot Spot to reach the next area.
2	Follow the path north and then northwest. Use Fire on the spores blocking the path on the left or attack it with you weapon to destroy it.
3	Destroy three more of the spores to find 8th treasure chest (20 Gil) further down the path in front of a building.
4	Go back to the location of the Fire Hot Spot and start destroying the sports on your right.
5	Break another spore again to the right to find two Bombs. Take them out to get a key that opens the door to the next large area.
6	Go through the door and leading to a large area. Move south to find 9th treasure chest (Chocobo Pocket Artifact x1) and 10th treasure chest (Mythril Sallet Design x1) that you can open.
7	From there, go north to find another spore. Destroy it and keep going until you reach the northeast end. You will find the 11th treasure chest (Dragon’s Whisker Artifact x1) in that location.
8	Head west to destroy more spores. It will lead you to a field with enemies. Take out the enemies there and follow the path west.
9	A bridge that goes north will come into view as you go further along the path. Go further northwest to find the 12th treasure chest (Mythril Glove Design x1).
10	Then, go south first from here leading to another spore that you can destroy to find 13th treasure chest (20 Gil).
11	Backtrack and cross the bridge going north. Take out the enemies to get the key you need to unlock the door to the north just before the boss.
12	Defeat Armstrong.

Tips and Strategies

Acquire Moogle Stamp #3

Before leaving the the area, make sure to locate the ninth Moogle Nest. Head to the east location of the map. Then, examine the dilapidated house beside staircase ruin.

Armstrong Boss Strategies

Here is a breakdown of the battle strategies against the boss:

Keep your distance

Similar to the battle against Orc King, you need to be mindful of where you’re going. Keep moving and maintain a moderate distance away from the boss. If you move too far you’ll be punished by his ranged attack. While you can approach the boss, ideally you shouldn’t take your time dishing out attacks since he’ll punish you if you take too long to back away.

Take out the skeletons

A pair of skeletons will join the fray and interfere during the fight sometime later. Prioritize on disposing of them quickly to prevent their magic attacks from landing.

Avoid the toxic cloud

When the boss’ head tilts back, that is a clear sign that it will release a toxic cloud after some charge time. Clear the way to avoid the cloud. If you get caught, you’ll be inflicted with poison.

Use fire spells or focus attacks

The boss fares poorly against fire spells such as Fira and Firaga which make the elemental useful for this fight. That being said, capitalize on ranged spells over physical attacks if you can afford to since you’ll be able to avoid most of his physical moves.
