Detailed below are permanent events, points of no return, and missable features in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition. Be sure to proceed carefully when playing through the game’s main story to avoid making mistakes or missing out on getting important items.

Name and Race cannot be changed

Once you have entered you character’s name and chosen your race, you will not be able to change it again at any point during your playthrough. When deciding your character’s race, try to keep in mind each of their strengths, weaknesses, and playstyles and see whether it suits your preference throughout the entirety of the game.

Which Race Should You Choose?

Family Trade cannot be changed

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition - Family Trade

You cannot switch to a different Family Trade once you have confirmed it during character creation. Each of the different Family Trades grant unique benefits such as getting discounts at family shops, crafting equipment for you, or sending you food and other useful items regularly. Be sure to choose your Family Trade carefully as it will significantly impact gameplay during the main story.

Materials cannot be reused or recycled

Materials used to craft weapons, armor, and race-specific gear cannot be recycled after using them. You must always make good use of rare materials such as Mythril, Diamond Ore, and Orichalcum before using them to craft equipment.

Cycles cannot be reversed

Upon gathering Myrhh from the trees found in any of the dungeon’s, it will be replenished after two (2) in-game years. This period of two years is called a cycle.

New enemies, areas, and items appear when the cycle of a dungeon progresses, eventually stopping at the third cycle. This means that it is possible to miss out on certain items that only appear on the first and second cycles. The specific missable items are detailed in the Missable Features section below.

Information on Cycle Changes

Missable Features

Force Ring Scroll and Ultima Weapon Scrolls

The Force Ring and Ultima Weapon scrolls can only be obtained if you chose Alchemist as your Family Trade and have maxed out your relationship level. The Force Ring and Ultima Weapon are two of the best pieces of equipment in the game and there are no other ways to obtain these outside of the Alchemist Family Trade.

Eternal Mail Scroll, Eyewear Techniques Scroll, and Shiny Shard

The Eternal Mail and Eyewear Techniques scrolls used to craft the Eternal Mail armor and Twisted Spectacles accessory (Yuke only) respectively cannot be obtained past cycle 2. The Eternal Mail Scroll is found in Conall Curach while the Eyewear Techniques scroll is in Daemon’s Court.

The Shiny Shard material is an item required to craft the Gold Mail armor. It can only be obtained in Tida during cycles 1 and 2. Past those time periods, you will only be able to obtain it during random Caravan Events.
