Which Tribe Should You Choose?
When starting a new game in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition, you will be asked to choose from four different tribes (race), each with their unique characteristics and playstyles. Read on to find out which tribe best suits your preference, especially when playing the game for the first time
Races Summary
Tribe | Details | Recommendation |
---|---|---|
Clavat | Good all around-abilities, best starting race for beginners, equips swords and shields in battle. | ★★★★ |
Lilty | Highest physical attack power, high defense, low magic power and slow magic casting time, equips lances and gauntlets in battle. | ★★★★ |
Yukes | Highest magic power, fastest casting time, low physical attack power, low defense, slow charge attack speed, equips hammers and helmets in battle. | ★★ |
Selkie | Good all-around abilities, fast charging, has lower defense compared to Clavats, equips rackets and belts in battle. | ★★★ |
Clavat
Clavats boast a good spread of stats and balanced qualities that make them suited for both melee combat and magic. Their impressive defense allows them to last longer than Selkies and Yukes in battle and can serve as reliable healers because of their decent casting time.
Initial Stats
HP | 8 |
---|---|
Strength | 6 |
Defense | 7 |
Magic | 13 |
There are very little disadvantages to choosing the Clavat and is highly recommended for beginners, especially when playing solo.
Lilty
Lilties are the best physical attackers out of the four races but suffer from poor magic power and long casting times. They are also incredibly tanky, making them ideal for going to the enemy’s face and pummeling them with physical attacks and focus charges. Certain enemy attacks may also miss Lilties because of their small stature.
Initial Stats
HP | 8 |
---|---|
Strength | 8 |
Defense | 8 |
Magic | 10 |
While having less versatility compared to Clavats, Lilties are still a fairly good race to choose when playing for the first time.
Yuke
Yukes are the quintessential mages of the four races, boasting high magic power and fast casting to relentlessly nuke enemies or cast support magic on allies. They, however, suffer from having the lowest defense in the game. The challenge in playing Yukes is also compounded by the fact that casting spells forces them to stand still, making them vulnerable to enemy attacks.
Initial Stats
HP | 8 |
---|---|
Strength | 5 |
Defense | 5 |
Magic | 15 |
Positioning is key when playing as a Yuke so knowledge of enemy patterns of behavior is critical when in combat. Because of this, Yukes are not recommended for beginners.
Selkie
Selkies are very similar to Clavats in terms of stats but enjoy excellent attack range, the fastest focus charge attacks, and impressive mobility. Selkies also have less durability and magic power compared to Clavats but have higher strength. This makes them more suited for hit-and-run style combat.
Initial Stats
HP | 8 |
---|---|
Strength | 7 |
Defense | 6 |
Magic | 12 |
As with Yukes, Selkie characters should always be aware of positioning and enemy attack patterns to avoid taking damage as much as possible. Selkies are also somewhat a good starting class for beginners, though their low defense requires a bit more caution when engaging enemies.
